Like people saying their first Pokemon games were Heart Gold or Black 2 or that Wii were their first Nintendo console.

I feel so damn old and I'm only 27. 27? Shit that's almost 30! And around the same age my parents was when I was born.

It's funny how we as kids were longing to be adults 'so we can do whatever we like' and shit like that.
And when we finally become adults, we just want to be kids again and do whatever.

I don't feel old, and I'm 71. My youngest child turns 40 this year. I've been playing since the mechanical arcade driving games when I was a kid in the 1950s. Games keep improving.

Cheer up, life just keeps getting better after 50, so at 27 you have a lot to look forward to.

What nonsense.

As a kid I wanted the freedom to do as I please, as an adult I do as I please, this is natural progression and you should reassess your life if this truely isn't the case.

This gives me a bit more hope. Thank you.
I'm 27 and it's been nothing but feeling bullied, heartbroken, marginalized, rejected, etc. I have heard about before how this stuff gets better with age and you eventually stop caring.
I'm gonna be alone for the rest of my life. All I ask is that it eventually stops hurting and traumatizing me.

I've heard of 2 ladies who lived to be older than 100, They were both asked the question "What's the secret to living a long life?" One of them said "The secret is being kind to others" while the other one said "The secret is actually wanting to die" because she didn't enjoy a single day of her 109 years or w/e it was being alive. Lol

A lot of adults can't do as they please. Financial restrictions may have you working double shifts and having no free time because you're only just getting by money-wise. Time may be a huge crunch because instead of just doing whatever you want, you've got to make time for your kids, and your spouse, and trying to maintain a social life with friends, and so on. Depending on your job, you may have to work on projects even in your off-time, which cuts into free time to do things, or may involve a lot of travel that cuts into your ability to make plans. Conversely, you may find yourself unable to do a lot of things because your spouse also works, so even when you're able to do things, your spouse isn't. You may also have to plan your life and vacations around when your children are out of school, or when they have activities like sports or dance class or whatever other extracurricular things they might be part of.

There are absolutely compensations, and adults generally have more freedom than kids in terms of being able to go places kids can't and potentially having the money to do so, but adults also wind up having a whole host of other responsibilities and limitations. So adults can absolutely feel like they had more freedom and time as kids, when they weren't always constantly worrying about whether they can pay rent or mortgage this month, or having to get their car repaired, or feeling like they're falling into a rut because they can't really go out for dinner, dancing, or movies with their significant other because there are always complications.

Granted, if you're independently wealthy, single, have no kids, no debt, and can pretty much go anywhere and do anything you want, adulthood can be absolutely awesome (at least until age and medical conditions may start catching up with you). But there are plenty of adults who CAN'T just rearrange aspects of their life to make things more doable, so the only thing holding them back is their own lack of motivation.

Because this is such a WOT, I'll just quote this.

When you're an adult you get to choose your responsibilities and if you consider looking after your kids or doing your own projects limitations then you're either doing it wrong or did something you didn't want to do for no god damn reason.

Remember this, if you have to scrape by on double shifts and have nothing for yourself, your parents aren't helping you when you need it and your childhood was probably just as big a mess because of this.

Shit man, life's your fucking oyster and if you choose to take on a load of responsibilities you can't handle for shit you don't want, you're a fucking idiot and need help.

That's a lie you're telling yourself because you are in your 30s now. I see older relatives do it all the time. The older they get, the higher the threshold for old becomes. I doubt your 18 year old self (who is now separated from you by 14 years of time) would agree that you aren't past your prime until 40. And lest you think I'm being mean, I'm not much younger than you. Getting old always feels like it's a problem for someone else.

To be fair, that doesn't necessarily mean that your 40-year old self is lying to yourself. It can also mean that your 18-year old self was an idiot.

And let's be honest, most people's 18-year old selves are idiots about pretty much everything.
