Do you have to pay thousands of dollars to succeed at those games, or are we talking just a small amount? Those allowed you to reset your potential on your equips, which, if rolled properly, could get you ridiculous stats, like 3-lines of +12% (stat) PER LINE, so one equip could give you like +36% of your stat. So, to answer the question, in Maple, if you didn't pay2win with your cubes, you wouldn't be able to come close to being invited to boss parties because your damage would be fucking terrible. --- Not removing this until Pat Benatar is in Super Smash Bros. Maybe six? I don't remember the exact cost, but $15/mo would be FAR from enough. I mean, you've got 10 different pieces of equipment to get to ideal, or at least passable stats, which can take literally hundreds of cubes. For one piece of equipment. Multiply that by 10. And that's just cubes. That doesn't even include the item that gives you an extra slot to scroll for your items, or the rings that give you bonus stats (which is LITERALLY paying for better stats, as opposed to paying for the chance of better stats)... it goes on, but it's been a while for me. $20,000 does not surprise me one bit. --- Not removing this until Pat Benatar is in Super Smash Bros. The gotcha though was it was fast paced and skill based, and you could pay for revives and make death not so awful. So if you were good at the game, you wouldn't have to pay. If you weren't, well, start shelling out the cash. Think of it like an old arcade quarter-muncher, akin to Dungeons & Dragons. Although, my disclaimer, I haven't played for many years. Maybe if we're lucky we can have the South Korean government force Nexon to make MapleStory more affordable for us. :P But, from quick research it seems Nexon moved their HQ from South Korea to Tokyo, Japan, so...couldn't that pose a problem?
