I've been worrying about this for a couple of reasons, one being that I'm finally starting to feel the superhero fatigue and the other being that Thor 3/Black Panther were so different, while this is going to be straight-up comic-book movie, so it might not feel so special.

There's a reason they keep mixing up the tone/style of the solo movies (besides the fact that it's just generally a good idea). It allows them to go "full superhero" for The Avengers and still blow your pants off.

Too bad. Thanos had a unique motivation that was logical but impossible to reason with. That's what made him more interesting than, say, Darkseid.

Sure, they're both purple space warlords who own their own planet, train children who inevitably turn good and fight them, and want to find a macguffin that will let them conquer the universe/kill half of the universe's population, but Thanos' slightly more interesting reason for it is what distinguished them.

I was unaware of Darkseid having daddy issues, but it's been a really long time since I read anything with him in it.

On an unrelated note, I'm wondering who will be the final boss after Thanos is defeated. Now that Disney has Fox, it feels like Doctor Doom and Galactus are the obvious choices.

If I was booking this franchise, Black Panther 2 would be a political film featuring Doom and Panther facing off with their countries hanging in the balance. Great opportunity to utilize leadership.

I could see X-Men vs. Avengers being the actual direction Disney goes now, however.

Also, Mephisto and Dormammu could make decent large-scale antagonists.

I didn't even consider Mephisto and Dormammu. A giant unfightable extradimensional god is a good option.

I thought about the X-Men, too. I'm wondering how they'll be introduced. The only options are:
1. Say they were around all the time and just hiding
2. Say they've only just started to exist, except for a few who were hiding in the past
3. Alternate dimension stuff

From most reports, that wasn't meant to be the literal implication as we all know it from the comics. Death isn't a character as far as we know.

In a way, the royal Inhumans. Show got cancelled and I don't think they'll be trying to bring 'em back anytime soon, so that's kind of off the shelf.

well obviously the character who said it didn't intend it that way, he meant it the way the phrase normally is used. But since he was saying it to Thanos there was definitely an intentional wordplay by the writers there.

Not saying that's a 100% confirmation that Death will be in the movie or even referenced, but it seems to at least have been an intention at the start of this whole thing.

My google search told me hes in the same position as Hulk, where they could include him in a movie but they cant make an actual Namor starring role movie without Universal getting distribution rights.

The next big bad has to be Galactius. After the other FF4 movie ruined him, he needs a real set up, as the monster he is.

That way you can fade out Iron Man and Cap, and bring in FF4 and Silver Surfer.

I think Iron Man is such a recognizable character now of "classic" MCU...I don't know. If everything goes through like people think and you can add in the X-Men and F4, maybe you don't need him (or have room for him) but I feel like they can't retire him, simply because I think Chris Hemsworth is also done and Thor isn't something you can really pass down. Neither is Hulk for instance, although they already changed actors there and Mark Ruffalo is probably willing to stay on a bit longer.

I wonder if they would risk not killing Iron Man but replacing him after next Avengers with another actor but that guy still playing Tony Stark.
