I still don't think the manga is great, but if you just....HAVE to check out Black Clover, there is no comparison. The modern One Piece anime has a better episode to chapter ratio than Black Clover.

I am always annoyed when shows with at least decent source material end up getting butchered. BC is studio Pierrot of at their lowest: they killed pacing and added filler within the first month of the shows airing. It's like the Naruto filler....but that's the show. All of Black Clover's anime is Naruto filler.

Episode 2 of Black Clover is made up of a reshowing of the last few minutes of the previous episode, followed by 15 minutes of filler based off of 2 panels from the manga.

Also, I stopped keeping track, but by episode 5 they had covered 3 chapters. Have not heard anything about the pacing picking up.

It's a joke.

People make fun of the voice, but that actually stops mattering, and even starts to improve. It's almost a non factor in the show's quality, like claiming Mass Effect Andromeda sucked because the face animations were bad.

And such a shame, it should have been a great anime but the direction was completely wrong. It's a cerebral and kind of laid back action show that they tried to pass off as your typical for kids high energy battle thing.

With no budget. Still crossing my fingers for the hiatus to end one day!

And I hate to keep bitching here because I don't actually give a shit about Black Clover, manga or anime, but the reason that manga got fairly popular in the first place, the reason that ANYBODY cares about it, is how fast paced it is. That's Black Clover's thing, it's the reason it has a fan base.

My semi-fascination with this show is in just how impressive of a fuck up it is. This misses the mark like CLAMP making a One Piece movie.

Yes, HeroAca is a solid pick. I'm not big on it just because I'm reading the manga, and the recency of that makes it hard for me to get to interested in the show, but it's a damn fine adaptation.

Started watching Recovery of an MMO Junkie.

This is definitely not a game-changer, but it's a pretty fun show. No complaints here. Also Moriko is a pretty great MC. I love how the anime frequently cuts to IRL Moriko for a few seconds to show her reaction to stuff and she's just sitting there chuckling like a creep, or whatever it is she's actually doing.

I really liked MMO Junkie, but the way some people are acting like it's anime of the year or something is...weird. I wouldn't even say it breaks top 3 comedy.

Comedy is so subjective, though, so it's hard to judge.

Yeah, MMO Junkie was fine but I definitely didn't love it. It's ranked last right now of the ones I've finished (though Ancient Magus' Bride will easily rank below it whenever that finishes and that's another anime everyone but me seems to love so meh).

I finished Classroom of the Elite. I'm not sure anyone else here even watched this but I thought it was okay and I have things to say. Sadly, it didn't reach the heights that I think it could have.

I adored this anime's concept in theory. The whole idea about super-powerful cliques battling for supremacy in high school is something that has always appealed to me, and putting that into what's basically a psychological test centered around points is a unique way to approach it. I also really like the idea of Ayanokoji, the guy who manages to stay on top of everything while remaining firmly in the background. Horikita was another great character to play off of him. Literally all of the elements were there for something amazing. Sadly, almost all of this wound up being nothing more than wasted potential.

There was only one moment towards the end that really lived up to the spirit of this idea, when Ayanokoji effortlessly won the survival test, but even that was kind of pedestrian. That's the kind of mind-game I would want in the middle of the anime just to introduce the concept and then things would escalate from there. It wasn't strong enough to be the ending. There was just too much wasted time in CotE. Sakura's stalker, the pool episode, the panty theft... these are all plots that did nothing but distract from what the story should have been about. I also think it was a huge lost opportunity that there weren't more opportunities for points to shift around. It would've increased the tension if it felt like every little thing mattered as opposed to just a few big things.

Anyway, I doubt it will happen but I would be happy to see this get another season. I think there's still a lot of potential for the characters and story even if these twelve episodes kind of dropped the ball.

One Piece - It's great that the anime is back to looking good again. It's been really good ever since the 1 hour special 2 months ago. As far as the manga goes Carrot GOAT

Super - been a boring few weeks but finally should be getting to the parts we care about

MHA - Up to episode 20. Been watching it mostly over the last week. I'm down for any series where my hometown is the name of an attack

Dr. Stone - probably still like 2 years away before this gets an anime, right? Rarely has a bad chapter though I still really enjoy it.

Boruto - Anime slowly but surely catching up to where the manga started. Still nothing too remarkable.

Ippo - RIP

JoJolion - feels like we're finally gearing up towards the climax....all while still not really knowing who the main villain is.
