That's a little depressing, and thank you to my sister for pointing it out. Not that I was unaware, but I hadn't actually noticed it today and I think I'd have been happier for it if I hadn't.

I inherited his house, and I'm still going over a couple times each week to try to further empty it out en route to either moving my stuff in or selling it. I don't know which yet, but there were too many things that I couldn't ask a 1-800-GOT-JUNK type to come in and clean out. Expensive ham radios, model railroad collection, family memorabilia and heirlooms, etc. I honestly don't know if I feel any closer to being cleaned out than I did nine months ago when my stepmother found a new place.

It also means my immediate family is down to one living sister. (And her kids, I guess.) I knew, intellectually, that I was going to see my parents and grandparents drop some day. Grandparents were incredibly long-lived, but I didn't expect my parents to have the same health, and they were already forty when I was born. OTOH, knowing that I don't really have people to call on during a crisis is just a little sad and lonely. And I wouldn't have expected my sister to have died at 34. At least I have a decent inheritance?

Your sister passed at 34? I'm sorry man, that sounds absolutely tragic. Your dad sounds like a cool dude with those model trains; kinda want to get into that if I ever have kids.

June 7th for me, man.

I am sorry, these days are always horrible. That and Mother's day.

Cervical cancer. Right before they announced the vaccine. And I'd be happy to dump these trains on ya if you were anywhere near Philadelphia.
