Are you quick to side with Cops who are trial for killing suspects?

Former South Carolina Copper, Michael Slager gets 20 YEARS in Prison after being convicted by a jury in the SECOND trial when he shot and killed unarmed black motorist, Walter Scott and then tried to cover up his murder!!

The case was a rallying cry for the Black Lives Matter movement as Slager's attorney tried to paint the case that he shot the 50 y/o in self defense when video footage showed that Scott knocked the stun gun out of his hands and ran for it and Michael immeidately took out his gun and started shooting at him multiple times. He said that race didn't play a role in the shooting and didn't have any "racial animus" toward minorities.

Still, he plead guilty to violating Walter's rights and prosecutor dropped murder charges on him but it was declard a mistrial last year in a deadlocked case.

But his day finally came in the second trial as the unanimous decision found that he placed the stun gun by Walter's body in an attempt to make it look like a struggle after making false statements to the police on what happened. Michael was also overheard on tape after the shooting and said "What a rush" after killing Scott.

If it wasn't for a bystander who recorded the whole incident, the case may have gone differently as there was no other footage that would tell the full story.

Scott's family said they had "forgiven" Slager for the shooting as a family member said "I'm not angry at you, Michael. Michael, i forgive you and Michael i do pray for you now and for your family, because we've gone through a traumatic time"

The judge also found that Michael obstructed justice when he made those false claims and though the recommended prison time was 10-13 years, the judge is not bound by that and thus, senencted him to 20 years.

White Police officers have been aggressive in charging white officers who shoot unarmed black people as 4 have plead guilty in state or federal court in the past 6 years.

Are you someone who's quick to side with Cops that are on trial for killing suspects?

Mixed feelings. The sentence seems a bit long-- although clearly the officer was after the fact acting in bad faith -- but, more importantly, it's a great way to embolden suspects to run. All of this stuff may lead to an overall increase in crime in years to come.

I'm confused, do you think the penalty for running from the police should be summary execution? Firearms shouldn't be used unless there is imminent risk of death.

Yes. Fleeing criminals pose a large risk to officers and other people. You don't know if he's going to go get a gun or take a hostage or just run.

Not to mention society is just plain better off without another criminal endlessly consuming resources.

Criminals exhibit patterns of dangerous behavior, I do not. Nice strawman though.

Running from police warrants public execution on the spot?

Another reasonable political opinion from Rasmoh. Bet you wouldn't say that if it was your 13-year-old relative.

The content of me having no criminal history whatsoever is far more sensible of a fact to look at. I'm also pretty sure only a fool would consider wanting society to be rid of criminals a dangerous behavior.

Guess we're ignoring the fact that he directly assaulted and disarmed the officer. And honestly, yes, criminals need to not be rewarded for disobeying police orders.

Bet you wouldn't say that if it was your 13-year-old relative.

You clearly said that about every situation where anyone is fleeing from a cop.

Yeah how unfair to the guy that murdered a guy. Im pretty sure the crime rate will skyrocket now that police cant just get off with shooting people in the back.

To be honest, there are probably a lot of disappointed people who were hoping for an excuse to riot and loot around Christmas time. Guess they'll have to stick with their regular burglaries and thefts now.

I know, and their families are often just as scummy as the criminals themselves. I can't count the amount of letters I've read from the families of rapists, child molesters, murderers, drug dealers, robbers, burglars, and batterers begging for leniency or even acquittal despite the numerous atrocities committed by these people. Often times they'll even proclaim their criminal family member is innocent despite irrefutable video evidence and/or full-blown confessions. Family members of criminals tend to be extremely selfish and have no regard for the trauma these people inflict upon the innocent.
