Some people that voted for Trump don't support him. Some people just did it as anti vote to Hillary and don't actually like Trump as a human

It seems like this is a generally accepted idea for every politician except Trump.

Voting for trump because of hillary hate is acceptable. Legit trump support is not acceptable.

Hillary was really that bad of a candidate tbh. There were potentially millions of Trump votes that were purely anti-Hillary and because of how near-pointless it is to cast a third party vote. Out of 50 states, only one (Utah) had a viable third party candidate who actually amassed a healthy percentage of the vote. Hopefully the Democratic party gets their shit together and actually runs a candidate who is not establishment and the definition of fake crony.

Of course there's a difference, but to be clear, that doesn't let Trump voters off the hook. They knew exactly who they were voting for, they accepted the risk, and they have to own it.

This. I have more respect for the people that voted Trump and actually thought or at least hoped he would do a better job. The ones that voted just because they didn't want to vote for another person deserve as much disdain as Trump supporters currently have

None of the candidates on either side were all that appealing. The Democrats had Jim Webb who looked interesting, but he was dead by the end of the first debate. The Republicans had Kasich who portrayed himself as reasonably moderate, so he was doomed. The only reason he finished fourth was that he kept going while everybody else dropped out. The number 2 was Ted Cruz. The only person I liked less than Ted Cruz was Bernie Sanders.

lol.... While Trump has failed to deliver on his promises (some of which he hasn't made any effort on), nothing he's done has been so egregious that if I could go back I wouldn't vote for him again. In American politics, sometimes lackluster is the best you can hope for.

Likewise, I knew exactly who I *wasn't* voting for and understood the risks of voting for her. I voted for her during the primaries only because I understood the risks of voting for the other guy were far worse.

Voting third-party or not voting would be tacitly voting for Hillary. If you're voting against a candidate, not voting for a viable candidate isn't really voting against the candidate.

It's also FEWER votes for Trump and not supporting Hillary. Might as well just not vote then.

Then virtually nobody would ever vote and the only people who win would be extremist lunatics with cults behind them because only cultists are going to wholeheartedly support and believe in candidates. Any rational person will differ with a chosen candidate on at least a few issues (certainly more issues than the other candidate), but see them as an improvement over the other person.
