It's an SLR-104UR, basically a Bulgarian AKS-74U with a 16" barrel. My plan is to register it and make it a short barreled rifle.

Don't forget to pick up the suppressor. It's on the other side of the Shell 1/2 connecting bridge after you defeat the Harrier. You have to do the cartwheel jump move to make it across the gap.

Is it still legal to have the stock folded? I thought it had to be 13.5 inches from the trigger to stock end (minimum).

Never heard that law, may be a state thing? It's definitely not a federal law.

Totally forgot the AKS-74U was in MGS2. Readin into it looks like I got a couple other guns in the game, Makarov and an HK USP.

To clarify, It should be 19 since I have a Russian Tula krink kit as well and I have the receiver for it which is technically the firearm. I paid $800 for this kit several years ago, sell for double that now. Now that I have the SLR I am considering selling the kit.

Bought a 9mm AR with my cousin a few weekends ago and that was the biggest discussion about how the stock has to be a minimum of 13.5 (end) to the trigger. No more short/no stocks.

Uhh, unaware of any federal rules like that.

Nah, I really wanted one but I never liked the mags, they are all single stack so the 10 rounders look silly. I hear excellent things. Vepr's are banned from import now so if you want one you better hurry and find one before the prices skyrocket even more.

Only Vepr I have is a Vepr 12.

Eh, the only reason I voted for Trump was the possibility of eased sanctions on Saiga. Then the treasury dept added Vepr to the list a couple months ago. I hope the shit gets lifted but I have zero confidence that it will.

As for US companies, I dunno, maybe they just don't think the market wants them. All the surplus has dried up thanks to the shit fest in the Middle East and Ukraine (where most of it was coming from) so the super cheap ammo isn't available anymore. You could get a Winchester Mosin :)

The kits are shit and I want nothing to do with them. Not to mention that making one a bullpup takes a trigger that isn't exactly great and makes it even worse.

Traditional AK-47's aren't designed as DMR or even Sniper Rifles.

It's a low effort super reliable rifle for your average conscript.

That's all.

It's not much of a loss IMO.

If you wanted a precision rifle, go with a AR platform based rifle.

I've got a PTR-91. It's a .308/7.62x51 and the design makes it have a pretty harsh recoil, it's also heavy as hell compared to an AK.

Eh, if I want a precision rifle I will get a bolt gun. If I want a bullpup I'll get a gun designed as such, been looking at the PS90's. My AK's are minute of man which is good enough.

A standard legal pattern won't have any noticeable accuracy difference despite the extra barrel length because, for accuracy, a barrel length only needs to be long enough to sufficiently accelerate the bullet--And with an intermediate cartridge, that is not an very long requirement at all. Additional length beyond that can in fact negatively impact accuracy by affecting barrel harmonics and vibration at the muzzle (Though this is not a simple phenomenon to measure).

I concur, but I like longer barrels, especially Composite Barrels.

Look up the tech, Composite Barrels are the future of Barrel Technology.

It's validated by HP White Laboratories.

Consistent Accuracy through many sequential back to back shots, has some form of polymer in between the outter sleeve and inner barrel that transfers heat out as fast as possible to maintain a cooler internal barrel.

It also increases the stiffness of the barrel to have low barrel harmonics after each shot and multiple shots.

The only downside is cost.

very nice collection. i only have one AK which is an Arsenal SAM7 SF-84. great gun. im generally not big on making up a huge collection (id rather spend the money on accessorys and ammo), but it would be nice to have a back up AK like i do with my AR's. i should of gotten a vepr when i could.

I've heard the biggest issue with them is accounting for how you load an AK vs how an AR loads.

Of course, the only Bullpup that's ever been accepted without complaints was the Tavor.
