It's kind of weird to think of Ash wearing the same set of clothes every day for an entire year or more. Pidgeot was needed to protect some Pidgey from a jerkass Fearow. Charizard and Primeape could get better training from people other than himself. Lapras was better off with its... herd?... of other Lapras. Squirtle was needed to lead the other Squirtle in the fire department. I think he still technically owns all of his other pokemon and they've just been permanently Oaked. As for his hat, yes, there's no excuse. -- Not changing this sig until I decide to change this sig. Only thing he COULD have done was use Charizard, but I think the writers almost "protected" Charizard by not involving him.
