I just beat the second dungeon (the volcano). I don't mean to be a pain, but from what my friend told me, who actually likes the Zelda series less than me, this game was going to be incredible, and so far, it hasn't really been. I'll beat it regardless because it's Zelda and I play all of the Zelda games (the only ones I haven't beaten are LoZ and AoL), but I'd like some encouragement if it really does get better.

From threads I've read it gets worse, and I'm already really underwhelmed with it coming up to the 2nd dungeon so umm..outlook not so good. A lot of people hyping the game up seem to claim the game peaks early on.
It gets better... and worse. But you haven't experienced the real high points of the game yet; the only truly good thing I can recall having happened by that point in the game is the Skyview Temple boss fight.
but even then everyone who got it at launch pretty much loved it. There must a difference in the type of person who gets it at launch and who waited for christmas

Is the difference a 5 letter word beginning with "D"? =P

Alphas who bought it with their own damn money like the game. Betas who have to rely on their parents to get for them for Christmas, don't like it.
The game pretty much gets progressively better until the end. That's not true for EVERYTHING, but there is a general upwards trend. The dungeons especially. The peaks of the game are the 5th dungeon, and the entire last 3 hours or so.

Something something something ^Poorly disguised anti-caps sig
What is it with all these negative SS topics lately? The people that loves Zelda got it at release The people that don't like Zelda got it for Christmas It's that simple
... Don't try to be funny It's just that YOU DON'T GET OUT OF YOUR WAY AND PURCHASE A GAME at launch If you don't care too much about Zelda but you care A LITTLE then yes you would get it for Christmas
Anticipation is sweeter than realisation. Some of us like to have something to look forward to at christmas, others are just plain busy in December to get into stuff like that. It's a completely false insinuation that only the real fans purchase games at launch, particularly when those games are released deliberately for the holiday season.
And FYI LttP is one of my top 5 games, LA, TP and OOT all in the top 20. I enjoyed WW and MM quite a bit as well. Skyward Sword is the most disappointing title in the series I've played from what I've seen so far and a notch below the usual Zelda standards. This is the first time I've ever had negative things to say about a Zelda game.
And I'm not sure where the universal praise thing is coming from, the only review I'd looked at for it was gametrailers which described it as the "first grey hair in the series". It would be unusual for GT to be saying things for the sake of controversy.

TP did not make me want to replay it at all. I tried, but I was just bored.
That being said, I'm too cheap to get WM+ and stuff, and I don't have my Wii at my dorm, and I wouldn't want to feel like I'm being rushed to finish it. So I'll probably get it in a couple years.

I thought the second dungeon was amazing honestly. People will say the 3rd dungeon is better, but I really wasn't a huge fan of it. The stuff before the 4th dungeon is where things start to get great and it peaks at the 4th dungeon. Pretty much loved everything afterwards.
