Well, not mine, I bought my brother Ace Combat 3D for Christmas. Just gave it to him... and there's no game inside.

Is this a common mess-up?... Would they believe me if I go to the store and say "my case was empty"?

I can't speak for Pun's GS, but from what the 2 friends of mine who work at GS tell, it is indeed very common practice for employees to open new games, play them, and then sell them as new afterwards. At least here.

my friend bought KoF13 last week and they stuck a PS3 disc in the 360 case. whack for real.

Whats stopping someone just keeping the game and pulling this? If Gamestop are confident they don't tamper with new games surely they'd acknowledge zero possibility of that happening? Unless it was on the suppliers end, in which case its presumably on gamestop to check their stock is correct on receipt?

Shrink wrap is removed for display purposes. If they give a new game from behind the counter that is not shrink wrapped, ask for a different copy.

to display we have the game. its not rocket science here. people are morons, they don't think we have games unless they're on the shelves

if you buy the last one, you get the display copy.. which has never been used

I've never received a new copy of a game at GS in shrink wrap that wasn't at a midnight release! They never have any shrinkwrapped copies at all, they're all unwrapped behind the counter.

Again, different policies for different stores I suppose.

we check our stock. nothing complicated

also I just want to say, just cause I work at gamestop doesn't mean I'm riding and dying for them

its just annoying how I have to deal with ignorant nerds that have the same attitude as TUM here every day

hate gamestop for the right reasons.


as far as LTM's GSs go, it seems that they're taking liberties with their perks and they're not supposed to be taking advantage of it like that. and I don't think theres any way to report this either, unless you get a new game with a scratch on it. Then you can send a complaint and I GUESS speculate on the complaint form that they're playing the games, but still. It sucks, they're a bunch of dicks for doing that.

There's a few GS around here that give me a look of disgust when I ask for a new sealed copy. They once told me they can seal it in the back if I want a "new" game. It's not "new" if I'm not the first one opening it. It's only new when the game is sealed in that smooth factory y-fold wrapping.

I have never received a shrink wrapped version of any game from Gamestop. I doubt I'm getting the last copy of this stuff consistently. I've even asked a couple times if they had shrink-wrapped versions of whatever game I was buying and they always said no.

Luckily for me, Best Buy is in the same mall as Gamestop!

selling a sealed copy is alot easier than selling a display copy.. So I'm finding it kinda hard to believe they're getting upset that a customer wants them to do less work lol

I've never once received a shrink wrapped game from Gamestop that wasn't the collector's edition midnight release stuff. It's the entire reason I stopped buying from them. They always remove the wrap from the games as soon as they come in and I have a serious problem with that.

they (and you) are free to think that I'm a bad customer for expecting shrink wrapped games. And I'm free to just buy from Best Buy and Amazon instead, which I do.
