Yeah this is a circus if there's no way to make the jurors feel safe. If Trump/Fox News are not held accountable for intimidation, I don't see how this trial can realistically proceed the way it's intended to

In new York, by the way, where he's been intensely disliked since the 90s because of his real estate.

I know this would violate Trump's right to a fair trial, but maybe this trial should be one without a jury. Not only is it incredibly difficult to find someone without a set opinion of Trump, but if they're going to allow him and his allies to intimidate jurors, then Trump doesn't deserve a fair trial.

A bench trial is a thing where one would have a fair trial, but Trump would never agree to that.

How many of the remaining 308 potential jurors will excuse themselves at the first opportunity after they've seen the treatment the seated jurors get by Fox News/Trump?

I don't know, but I sincerely doubt that. They wouldn't want a Bench Trial because there are less people to intimidate there. And less delays. And less chances to get a MAGA on the jury. And last but certainly not least, they want this judge removed. I don't see you asking for a judge to be removed and then asking for the judge to sit alone in judgement of you, waiving your right to a jury. I also doubt this judge would deny such a motion.

Juror 4 is on the chopping block as well. Likely lied about their political activities, an arrest regarding tearing down political posters, and their fascination with Trump.

We were concerned a Trump supporter would lie their way onto the jury and sabotage the trial from within, and sure enough... Thankfully they caught this one in time, but the next supporter might be better at hiding their allegiance.

I don't recall which, but Engoron or Kaplan told him during one of his recent trials that he'd better served to focus on his actual, legal trial and stop worrying about the court of public opinions.

They haven't until this point. Not just in this trial, but going back to at least his impeachment trials, he's been getting away with witness intimidation and jury tampering with barely a slap on the wrist.

Idk if it was mentioned already but just saw a potential juror who was dismissed being interviewed(she said she would not be able to be impartial) and apparently she just became a US citizen in August then got called for jury duty and it happened to be for Trumps case lol

Trump has made sure, more than anyone, by his constant violation of gag orders and attempts at intimidating jurors, that he doesn't deserve one. I know this puts me in the minority here, and that's fine, but fair trials assume good faith on both sides of the trial, both prosecution and defense.

If the defense is going to act in bad faith in every single aspect then I don't believe that the prosecution should be restrained in ways that the defense is not.

Trump's team ran out of their 10 challenges without cause so I expect the 5 remaining alternate jurors to be confirmed tomorrow and the opening statements to start on Monday.

That doesn't show that he shouldn't get a fair trial though. It shows that he needs to actually be held accountable when he violates rules. He, like literally everyone else ever, deserves a fair trial. What he is getting instead is virtually free reign to say and do things that normal people would not be able to get away with. He has shown that he never deserves the benefit of doubt when it comes to his actions. Simply stopping him from doing things that anyone else would be jailed for doing would be sufficient without violating anyone's rights.

tl;dr: He deserves to be treated fairly and for his rights to not be violated. But his actions would make said fairness be harsh as fuck. A bed of his own making that he needs to be made to lay in.

I did 5 days of jury duty on a state trial once. got home friday and checked the mail and had a federal jury summons

I've honestly never understood why this is such an issue. In regards to his security detail, yeah they'd have to physically be there, but not in a prison cell. I'm pretty sure they're not allowed to just wander around freely when personally assigned to him, so I see no difference between standing outside of a door at his house or standing outside of his cell next to a correction's officer.

The trickiest part is interaction with other inmates. I generally don't condone solitary confinement unless they are an violent threat to others, however Trump's influence is the kind of thing that would realistically lead to a white supremacist gang riot/attempt to overthrow the prison if he were allowed to associate with them as I'm sure they are Trumpers themselves.

So he would need some form of limited interaction with other inmates that's heavily monitored.
