They almost certainly do care about site traffic. My guide for FFVII: Rebirth is getting cross-linked into FF Wikis or something like that. Probably the same for the Q&A I'm required to fill out as part of the game bounty too. I think Fandom willingly bringing back the bounty program, and not only that but developing entirely new tools to encourage flow to the site shows that they believe in GameFAQ's as a money-maker. If nothing else.

This board will become just like LUE in a few years. The more CEmen get banned or leave, the deader this board will get.

I was wondering how come I don't see CE board where I normally see it to lurk and read stuffs few times a week. I can't really grasp what has happen here but it look like it's nothing good at all.

I'm not sure what's going to happen to this board. I'm not a regular and I can be found on the Pokemon boards but something that seems big (I think?) is going to make me see into this on most of my free time and lurk when I can.

this sucks.
after being a shut in hermit for years, I decide to start posting on CE again for some semblance of talking to people even if 99% of those posts are me just posting and nobody caring or ignoring them.

so now, just shortly after I decide to come back, this happens...and if my account is warned or whatever, then it's game over? sucks.

idk if I should just go back to being a hermit now, and never talk to people again....or post on here until I get a warning and henceforth banished from CE....and then go back to being a hermit, and never talk to people again.

Give it five years and there will barely be any users here due to all of them getting banned or "mysteriously purged" as Fandom wants to get justification to kill the site.

Loool I went to poll of the day a couple months ago... and my jaw dropped with how dead it was. Sure it was never as active as ce, more chill, but this wasn't chill this was straight tundra. The front page had posts from like 5 days ago, seems like the board was averaging 3 posts a day at best.

Every user who has visited GameFAQs in the last year and who currently has access to the board will retain access to the board. No additional users will be allowed to view or post on the board going forward.

I made the cutoff by like 3 days lol. Granted I don't post here anyway. Just gonna lurk (don't wanna get purged and lose access forever :/).

RIP Shallrunamok, Toonstrack and his alt, WTGHookshot, and Majin Nemesis, some silver linings to this shit. Some other dudes are also purged, but they never were here anyway.

It's going to be a while, but hopefully we get sold off rather than closed out when Fandom inevitably goes bankrupt.

It took about 10 years or so before LUE slowed to a crawl.

Hm. I think this is a more reasonable middle ground than they took with 261 tbh, and the purgatory rule will quickly get rid of some of the worst troublemakers - as well as give an incentive to the milder ones to tone it down a bit.

I do think they should've given amnesty for regulars currently in purg to give them one more chance tho, and only applied the permanent exclusion to future purgs. Not gonna lose sleep over it tho.

Curious about the answer to this question as well, the announcement does specify "who currently has access" so that does sound like they're gone.

No, but it will be a gradual decline as less people come around and more people's accounts get Purgatoried.

Depends on what they get Purg'd for. Some have been entirely unjustified.

In fairness, the CE permaban for purg shouldn't take place until after everyone knew about the new rule. I'm sure a lot of people will do more thinking before posting now.

I mostly agree with that. I mean on one hand there are some people (Israel shills, blatant transphobes, etc) who just need to be gone, but people who just eg posted a meme that pushed the limits at the wrong time should get another chance.

What about suspensions? I've seen mods suspend entire topics and then get overturned.

I can only imagine how boring and lame the boards will become after CE loses most of "those" people that it might actually be better if GameFAQs actually killed the board instead >_> It's going to be the same group of people discussing random stuff where they all unanimously agree with each other in a "respectable" way (aka boring)

I mean, it's not even about people getting purged.

It's already enough to know that you could get purged if your take is too hot and is seen as trolling to stop you from posting.

And that will slow down the board itself on it's own a lot.

You had to specifically register and there was a limited window to do so, unlike CE where the invite is automatic; but a purg doesn't affect access.

LUE is just creation date, roughly nov 2003?

i dont think you lose lue by getting purged

you had to have a user id higher than a certain number. iirc the user with that exact number became site-famous
