Oh look, the escrow analysis from my mortgage company. *opens letter* Your escrow shortage is $712. Either pay it and your monthly payment will go up by this much, or dont pay it and your payment will go up by even more. Man fuck this homeownership bullshit. Can never get ahead cause if its not stuff like its its random expensive shit breaking all the time. --- https://i.imgtc.com/MGGa6Os.gif ... Copied to Clipboard!

Why didn't you just buy your house in cash to avoid a mortgage?

Once your house is paid off though you live fairly cheaply with just house insurance and property taxes. I have been in my house for 20 years and have had to put very little money into it. It's been paid off for years now and I'm just stockpiling money into investments. Plus I really love my house and enjoy my property and the peace and quiet.
But I live in the middle of farmers fields in the Midwest in a very small town where everyone has big yards and its really quiet and peaceful. I'd probably feel different if I lived in a crowded city. --- PSN ID: sled_dogs76 60" Pioneer Kuro Elite PRO151FD, Yamaha RX-V3900 A/V Receiver, Oppo DV983-H player. Yeah the escrow portion of my mortgage payment is just under $600/month so if it were paid off thatd be a hell of a deal for how big this house is. Im in the Midwest too. About 30 minutes from the nearest big city and its nice to be sort of out of the way but still close enough for city stuff. --- https://i.imgtc.com/MGGa6Os.gif ... Copied to Clipboard!

I agree being out of the way but within half an hour to a decent city is perfect. It's definitely a nice balance and I much prefer that compared to other situations. It sucks having your payment go up but if you were renting your rent could just as easily be raised each year and you wouldn't be accruing value in your own property. The insurance and property taxes are always going to go up but eventually that house payment will be gone. That is when things are pretty nice. --- PSN ID: sled_dogs76 60" Pioneer Kuro Elite PRO151FD, Yamaha RX-V3900 A/V Receiver, Oppo DV983-H player. Coming soon: 2 Seaton Submersives from Mark Seaton ...
