I'm a college professor. I have no idea what the politics of 99% of my colleagues are. What echo chamber are you speaking of? How do Biology, Business or Math professors teach "liberal" versions of those subjects?

Not every viewpoint is worthwhile or needs to be welcomed. But the bill is expressly to allow those viewpoints.

Exactly. I haven't had a chance to comb over everything in this bill, but it's worth noting that it covers a lot more than just "intellectual diversity" in the classroom. For example, Committee Amendment #19 adds this in:

Student immunizations. Provides that a student enrolled in a health profession education program may not be required to receive an immunization as a condition of: (1) participating in; or (2) obtaining; clinical training or clinical experience required by the program. Allows a student to bring a civil action against an entity for a violation of these provisions

That's the problem. They're not extreme or fringe.

One republican governor suggested teaching slavery was good because it taught slaves blacksmithing.

Legislators in Indiana said we needed to be "impartial" in teaching about nazis and the Holocaust. An Ohio legislator was worse and said we need to teach German soldiers' perspective. A Texas legislator wanted to straight up teach "opposing views" to the Holocaust.

My dude. There's a problem when you say, "From all angles," and that is there are nazi angles that don't need to be taught. And Republicans want them taught.

(And all this to say nothing of their anti-science education.)

"Crazy" how Republicans are the ones accusing the other side of thought/tone policing, trying to correct and control everybody's speech, and yet they create legislation that forces them to be present or makes it to where we can't escape their speech, and essentially cannot escape them.

Sick control freaks.

I wish Indiana is a state that would care about such blatant hypocrisy. Unfortunately, that requires Republicans to do the right thing.

The definition of "intellectual diversity" in the bill is so vague that it's basically meaningless.

Conversely, the legislators' intent is pretty obvious even though they aren't willing to identify the specific conservative intellectual viewpoints allegedly being suppressed.

Bingo to both.

What's funny as well as the types that cry about different opinions/views being allowed line up behind a party that makes it harder to teach things they themselves hate. Such as proper history around the Civil War or basic concepts of gender.

Republicans: "All viewpoints are valid and should be respected!"

Also Republicans: "If you mention LGBTQ people at school, you should be fired and arrested! For pedophilia if you're mentioning it to minors!"

The only reason conservative students "don't feel comfortable sharing viewpoints in college" is because the right hammers into their head that colleges are liberal cesspools and a lot of conservative ideology is dumb as fuck.

Leave it to my state to continue to stay quite active in the idiocy arms race.
