So since i don't care about 4k, 60fps, or the new FF7 game, I'm fine just sticking with my PS4 then.

I don't put much thought into my PC build, and the enjoyment of optimizing it to be near silent even in demanding games is worth it.

I know PC is better but the only thing that annoys me is when my PC Master Race friends go on about how consoles hold back gaming. Yeah if games were only on PC graphics etc would be at an overall higher level but not nearly as many games would be being made without the consumer base provided by consoles. Like others have pointed out in the topic, the vast majority of people will not bother with building a custom PC.

Linux is fine but really you need windows for gaming on PC unless you get lucky and the only games you care about just work. Theres plenty of games that just wont let you play online if youre on Linux or the DRM will ban you or some shit. Theres also the ecosystem around gaming which is developed for Windows

Because you are already an enthusiast. You love this stuff. You know this stuff. You building a new PC requires little to no mental or emotional energy. The experience of it is actually enjoyable to you. Look at you, you literally put together a build on pc part picker just for the fun of it to have this discussion.

Do you understand that that is really not the case for almost the entire population of the earth? 98% of the people in my office switch off mentally before you could even get them to replace a stick of RAM, and I work in a software company.

If this is hard for you to understand, just imagine me trying to get you to do a hobby that you really don't enjoy at all.

DD2 is so horribly optimized that even people with high end PCs are killing NPCs to make the game run more smoothly.

Lol, I would certainly hope that you can get a PC that cost 200 dollars more in 2024 that's better than a console that released in 2020.
