I had a rough week or so when it came to eating. Lots of Vietnamese food last weekend, lots of camping/cookout food, LOTS of ice cream.

Back to my more successful food choices today and moving forward.

Almost at the end of the NBA season with my indoor cycling program. First 90+ minute session that was almost entirely in Zone 2. This is what many say is the key to good weight loss. Long easy efforts.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/b/b2df2c75.png

Tallied up my stats from the season when accounting for times I actually rode during a game, I'm at...

44 Games
904.27 miles
25,963 calories burned
19,461 ft of Elevation

With one more game to go on Sunday. That's more games participated in than...

Markelle Fultz, Joel Embiid, Tyler Herro, Evan Fournier, LaMelo Ball, Ben Simmons, Gabe Vincent, Luke Kennard, Bones Hyland, Reggie Bullock and Bruno Fernando.

Great run this morning. Kept my pace a little bit slower, plus it is hilly. Adding in a little bit of walking at the end, I was over 750 calories. Not bad for an hour.

That sort of weight loss in a year, have you also lost muscle mass at the same time? I'm just curious if you feel as strong as you may have been in like the 250 range?

So.. will try to be accountable here. Ive been traveling for work and spring break here for basically 3 weeks. Before the break, I was at 183 lbs at my lowest. Went on spring break week, told my wife Im gaining 10 lbs. That ended up being accurate. Last weighed at 193-194 before coming out to work for the week.

Didnt bring a scale. Im sure I definitely didnt lose weight. Bit probably gained. Hopefully Im not back past 200. Haha. Will try to weigh when I get home and see the damage. Im sure Ill be able to lose some when I get back home. Just need to get used to the home routine again.

MN. Yesterday was odd. It was like 40 really early and reached 80. It was like low 50s when I ran.

70 or so today and tomorrow, and then 50s the rest of the week.

What supplements does everybody here use to help promote weight loss?

The reason I ask is because of all supplements, caffeine has the most studies done on its effectiveness which has been proven to help stimulate an increase in metabolic rate.

Caffeine works synergistically with exercise to increase energy expenditure and fat oxidization.
So if you don't already, taking some caffeine before and after a workout (about an hour prior and after) may help with fat loss.

Of course nutrition and portion control will always play the most important role with exercise second

With turkey it depends how it was prepared. In the oven? Closer to 400 cal. The deep fryer or grill? Probably closer to the bigger number

Creatine works but due to a family history of kidney issues I always avoid it.
To be clear you take creatine mostly to get your muscles bigger and improve your strength. If you are older or follow a plant based diet it's great for muscle mass. That said, it can help you can weight rather than lose it if your diet is unbalanced. Wouldn't say it helps with weight loss.

Other than Huel which I try to use to replace about 25% of my meals, hemp and pea protein help me get protein without having to consume dairy products. I take other supplements like Vitamin D, B12, magnesium L-Theoronate, Calcium and Zinc but that isn't really for weight loss. I put hemp protein in my smoothies and veggie pasta and it aids in digestion and gets good amino acids.

BCAAs helps a lot too but it isn't needed if you already consume protein or don't do a ton of cardio.

Finished the NBA regular season with a 50KM ride. 93% in Zone 2. Felt surprisingly easy. Going to start racing virtually before this month ends. Aiming for another 1000 miles before the NBA Finals ends in late June.

I air fried it lol. So basically oven. Anywho...

You are putting the work in on that bike. The cool thing is that you found something to do while you are cardioing. I am still trying to figure out something since it is so boring. Since I am looking at computer screen when I do my Switch boxing all I have is different music and pod cast. And I have not found anything I liked. I wish I could find a good wrestling pod cast. But most of the people who do them I don't like.

When I worked at a gym most people watched movies in our Cardio Theater. There was a movie each day. I have a list of about 30+ movies I could first watch if I needed something to watch. Anime works really well for this because there's a large amount of content available. Two episodes are 44 minutes. That's what I was doing before I got into the NBA season. The music can be invigorating and watching them in English allows you to do other things while it serves as a timer. I've watched all of Demon Slayer on either a treadmill or bike for example. I got about 2 months of basketball before I have to find something else.

I use my recumbent stationary bike during football season so I can converse with my family and friends. It's not as strenous. When watching championship boxing I bounce on a springed trampoline to strengthen my legs. During peak soccer season I run on the treadmill for the entirety of the game. And rowing is really good when watching playoff hockey due to the combination of strength and cardio and focus required to follow the game. When I worked blue collar audiobooks and podcasts did the trick.

Zone 2 cardio is also a really good time to have a conversation if you have friends or family that don't mind you being slightly out of breath. You're supposed to be able to hold a conversation in Zone 2 and many people on Zwift use Discord and shoot the shit while doing their workouts.

Added Deadlifts 5 sets of 5 235lbs, Squats 2 sets of 20 and Bench 125lbs 5 sets of 21. Going up in weight on squat and bench this week. 244

Anime is such a great idea. I saw a bike that's only $100. I might consider getting it and biking while watching an old favorite anime like Bleach. Rukia still has a big head, but that's okay, lol. Or I could find a new series with a lot of seasons. But I didn't realize know that Switch Boxing as made me cut. Since that is the only explanation to me getting my arms sculpted my arms. For some reason I seem to skip or keep forgetting to set up biceps (while I do get my triceps). And I am just getting nice arms. I was in the shower, looked down at my bicep, and was like, "Damm, is that you, CJ?"

White food doesn't necessarily matter for weight loss, because a calorie is a calorie. But it raises cholesterol if you have a potential issue with that. I switched from white rice to brown rice, regular pasta to whole wheat, and stopped eating bagels altogether. Also, increased my fiber intake. Huge drop in my LDLs.

It definitely makes your muscles look bigger and you'll carry more water weight because of it. This is a good thing for a few reasons.

It will give you like one more rep in the tank, which if you're pushing yourself leads to more gains provided you're also recouping appropriately. Which it does help with recovery as well.

If you're losing weight, you want more water in there. It helps avoid injury.

It's also relatively inexpensive.

If you're super concerned about the pounds on a scale, it is a bit disheartening to see your weight blow up because of it. Most people just want to look better with their shirt off though, which it will help with. It's like the difference between having a pump and walking around normal, but like 1/5th the effect. It's one if the few supplements I'd say is at least worth the price

funny thing about LUE, that used to be my main hangout on GameFAQs back in the day, but i missed the sign ups when it went private because the family computer at the time was on the fritz and it was a couple weeks before we got it looked at and fixed, and by the time we did, the sign ups had come and gone and i was completely unaware. kinda sucks lol. that's when i migrated to CE.

Wishing you the best on your intermittent fasting journey! I also practice it, as I really enjoy eating. Postponing when I eat helps me manage my intake. However, its important to remember that many studies suggest the weight loss from intermittent fasting may not be due to delaying food consumption. Because of that I let me self have a nibble here and there some times. Note I am not suggesting you should do this in your personal journey. Do what works well for you.
