I got 6.6 so I am not far behind you. However I would not trust that site I uploaded Jim Cornet and he beat us with a 6.8 this one .

Yeah. I tried out a bunch of pics of myself, my wife, and various exes and it was inconsistent. Generally, most averaged around a 7, but the same person could vary from a 5.5 to 7.5 and I didn't see that big of a difference. There is one pic of one ex where I always thought that pic was especially gorgeous. That was the only one to go over an 8. So tempted to show that pic, but I am guessing that is uncool.

I'm getting slightly disillusioned with the gym, and was wondering last night if doing 100 push ups a day would be more beneficial instead.

It is certainly beneficial and is a complex exercise that works multiple muscles. But you need to augment it with targeted exercises. Everything works muscles differently.

Do you think isolation exercises are a waste of time? How many compound vs isolation is good per workout?

I just said you need both

When I go the gym, I do all targeted stuff. Or is isolation the better word? Was that the confusion?

Then I can do stuff like pushups on the in between days. Only takes minutes.

To be fair, I haven't been great about the in between days, but am trying to be better.

Is bench compound? I mean, I guess it does more than chest, but that seems to be most of it to me.

See, I don't really know terminology. I do know from experience that switching up exercises, even ones that use the same muscles, makes me sore in a different way the next day. So clearly switching things up is beneficial to rounding out muscle build all over.

Yes. The big 5 compound exercises are bench press, squat, deadlift, shoulder press and pull up.

I think it can be swapped out for overhead press. My understanding is they are just the classic strength building exercises, maybe because they are simple and can have variants depending on your needs?

Duran here, tagging with my alt cuz my main is in purg. 201.4 this morning! trending back downward after going back up to 203.2-203.6 for a few days. i haven't been doing very well with keeping up with my weight lifting regimen, because even though my left bicep is finally feeling better after i injured it in January, now my right bicep is not doing so good. but i don't think it is because i pushed myself too hard lifting with it like what happened with my left bicep. it kinda just started giving me issues out of nowhere. i think i only slept on it wrong or something. anyway, i know i should probably still do my lower body workout even if i need to take it easy on my arms, but since full body workouts are my normal routine, most of the time i find it difficult to get the motivation to just do what in my brain is only part of my workout. i really should get to it though.

as far as shoulder press, i really like how it works out not only the chest but the upper back and shoulders too. i think it is generally considered one of the major compound exercises because of how much difference it can make in defining your shoulders. i've seen pictures of some guys with huge biceps and triceps and forearms, but pretty small shoulders in comparison, and it just looks weird tbh. but on the subject, personally i don't quite understand the difference between shoulder press, overhead press, and military press. sometimes it seems like they are just used as different names for basically the same movement, but other times it seems like there is supposed to be an implied difference there, but i can't tell what.

I think the Military Press falls under the umbrella of Shoulder Press exercises. For example, when I do a Shoulder Press, Im usually on a bench and use dumbbells. Thats what youd typically call a Shoulder Press. On the other hand, the Military Press involves standing upright and pressing a barbell overhead. So, while the Military Press is a variant of the Shoulder Press, it doesnt encompass all types of Shoulder Presses. Its similar to how all tortoises are turtles, but not all turtles are tortoises.

good video. this reminds me of a segment i saw on Good Morning America not too long about weight loss and physical fitness where they compared the size of 5 lbs of fat to 5 lbs of muscle, and it is just crazy what a difference it is. muscle is soooo much more dense and compact. the total volume was tiny compared to the total volume of the fat. it really puts things into perspective.
