This I agree with. Ban all social media if the Congress thinks it's a detriment to society. But just banning TikTok alone while others are left sanction free sets a whole 'nother precedent that's not for the better.

Don't try to twist my words, I said if they are to ban/censor social media they should do it uniformly on all sites, instead of selectively removing one they themselves think is detrimental to them. I am FOR free speech and non-restrictive information. You on the other hand get your information from Fox news propaganda and think banning things they hate is good

We really need to shift the discourse here. It isn't being banned. That's not what is happening. It's being forcibly sold to an American company. So you guys keep arguing over whether or not social media should be banned when the entire point of this is to give a US company, and therefore the government, that data instead of a Chinese company, and therefore the Chinese government. If you live in a country that doesn't ban social media that is neither America nor China then the whole thing looks extra ridiculous because all your data always goes to other countries.

So how do you know that Tiktok is the sole cause of the ignorance and not a combination of poor education and media literacy that's spreading in the USA? Hell, I've seen far more ignorance on Elon Musk's Twitter than Tiktok.
