Weird because Black people in the South have to do this stuff all the time.

I feel as if the surge in talking about it in media is very similar to what Jewish people have done in the media to advocate for their protection. Women did the same during Me Too, Black people attempted it with Black Lives Matter. It's like an ad campaign to advocate for themselves? To nicely ask other people to not allow that bullshit? People are blaming covid and Trump for the surge, but I remember reading about this when Obama was president.

In my experience, it's older people who have the most pointed opinions toward Asians. Particularly people of Indian and Vietnamese descent. It's rooted in not being able to understand them when they speak. They also don't like living on a fixed income and struggling watching Asian people hold positions and receive assistance they never got.

He said you're less likely to find a job if you have a hard to pronounce foreign name. That sucks.

I still don't know why the term AAPI became popular, as if the struggles of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans are identical. Not trying to dismiss discrimination against PI Americans, but being an ethnic Chinese living in Australia, there, I feel that Asian American struggles are significant enough to stand on its own and does not need piggybacking off someone else's.

They shouldn't have to adapt.

I hadn't seen a topic about an Asian being randomly attacked in a while. I guess it still has been happening it just CE stopped creating topics on it.

This is sad. I can't even imagine what goes through the minds of these racists. Do they think every Asian person is responsible for Covid or something? I ask, but I already know there's no logic behind their actions.

He's an ethno-nationalist pretending to care about this for obvious reasons. His problem isn't just with Pacific Islanders (who he obviously detests for not giving their land to China), but also other Asians who aren't the "right" ethnicity.
