It's like... if you took one of the regions in 16 and just dropped icons all over the map for all of the hunts and rare materials and lore bits, maybe added a tower or two to unlock those icons, they would look practically identical, but whereas 16 got savaged by fans for not having "world traversal", rebirth seems to largely be avoiding this criticism. --- "History Is Much Like An Endless Waltz. I don't think you do anything in a single XVI quest other than follow the waypoint (or hunting board hint) to collect an item or fight monsters . Like towers are an obvious incentive to explore off the beaten track even if it's boring and unimaginative. Not affecting my enjoyment at all, stuff like the owls that lead you to the lifesprings sort of suck the enjoyment out of exploring though. Its even marked on the map if you found a tower so why do we need the owl? Same with hitting those boxes that guide you to the divine summon things. It feels weird and jarring how some areas can look amazing and some look worse that Remake on the PS4.
