Im very excited for this game after playing through the demo a couple times. If you dont know what it is, its a strategy RPG from Vanillaware in the style of Ogre Battle. As in, its almost exactly like Ogre Battle, with a pinch of Fire Emblem thrown in for good measure. But it eases you in a lot better than OB ever did. Theres a demo on Switch and PS5, and its very extensive, it gives you 5 hours to play, and you get access to a very large portion of the map, I played it twice, went on two completely different routes and found different things and party members. Its pretty neat, I recommend it.

I first heard of it last night and my initial thought was something resembling My Little Pony, heh.

But no; I wont play it. Its not really the kind of game I play; plus, its not scheduled for PC.

I'm interested, but I've still got Ogre Battle 64 in my backlog on the Wii VC, so I'll be playing that before I buy a spiritual successor to it.

I wonder how the name "Unicorn Overlord" won out after all the other options they surely went through. The game has plenty of horn/unicorn imagery so I understand the reference but its still fucking terrible and makes it sound very silly.

That said, the game rocks and the demo is very extensive and carries over to the real game if you buy it so you don't waste your time.

Been waiting for this game for nearly 25 years. Of course most of that time was waiting for a new Ogre Battle, or at least a remake with maybe some new content, but I'm glad it's almost here.

I think this is the closest well ever get to a new OB or a remake of one. Which is a shame because OB and OB64 are two of my favorite RPGs ever made, and nobody ever talks about them. If I were to make an indy game, it would be an SRPG in the style of Ogre Battle 64.

I am a big fan of Fire Emblem and FFT. But honestly I found the UO demo really boring so far. I don't know how long it takes to open up.

I get the point, you have these autobattler unit groups where you can program if-else conditions and change their formations to change the outcome of battles. So far, I don't feel like I have really gotten to do this though. I just move my guys around and they steamroll every battle. I am not even using the Jeigan character and it is still pretty uninteresting. I have already started skipping combat animations and I'm only around level 5.
