probably gonna get a bunch of meme ones. dogecoin, the cat laughing at the table, grumpy cat, etc. if it's TV and media yeah that's less common and technically aren't often a single animal. salem the cat from sabrina the teenage witch for example was actually multiple real cats.

maybe we should also do a mount rushmore of meme animals (ONE MEME PER ANIMAL)

we could do ones for actual breeds though that might get a little weird?

big cats don't really have much competition though? lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars. panthers aren't a breed they're just one of the last two.

dog breeds people know though. goldens, weiner dogs, shiba, poodle, shitzu, pommerarians, chihuahuas, great danes, pitbulls, etc. there's at least something there.

Theres 41 species of cats according to Wikipedia. Generally, big cats refers to just the four Wang listed.

i forgot to mention, I went to the worlds biggest McDonalds while I was in Orlando. My original intention was to get a McPizza with the Rushmore ingredients but my wife yelled at me when I added pineapple because I was making it inedible

anyway it was the worst fucking pizza I ever had. I will not elaborate but take your expectations of McDonalds pizza and lower them even lower than they already were

Maybe lets try one and see where it goes before making a hard decision. Or if you do make it series not franchise because say barring a Super Mario and a Mario Kart from both being on a Nintendo console Rushmore seems like the wrong move.

I think these three systems will reasonably be hurt in credibility if you limit one game per franchise or series -- it's hard not to imagine two Mario/Sonic/Halo games for each of these. They were just so core to those system experiences.

I believe the PS1 has a similar but lesser risk with Final Fantasy getting multiple reps on the mountain. If you're going to test this kind of rule, maybe try it with the other systems I named first to see how that goes without the rule first...and if that starts to get weird, you can always add the rule here by then.

But I do think Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Crash Bandicoot, and people's general tendencies not to flood their nominations with the same series/franchise (alongside FF7 being the overwhelming favorite for FF-rep this generation) will be enough to stunt this risk you're concerned about.

I don't want every Nintendo system Rushmore to have a Mario and Mario Kart. People should have to make the hard choice

I think you can easily find four NES games for a Rushmore without using two Marios

Im not saying every Nintendo system needs a Mario and a Mario Kart everyone knows Sunshine shouldnt be on the Gamecube Mount Rushmore, Im saying some Nintendo platforms need both.

Most of them would not have both in contention and on the few where they are, the topic would be a lot about which Mario then instead of just having both.
