Don't think I'll live long enough for it to really matter, but otherwise decent. I have thousands of comic books and want to start getting them graded and flip them, I know a few guys who do just that for income and do pretty well so I don't think I'll ever stop once I start, it's easy money as long as you have the funds to get started

There are certain exceptions and I've been moving money every year for tax purposes with my financial advisor, so I do have to talk with him again sometime in the future cause I do remember mine should be good to go after 30 years which would put me at about 55.

My employer matches up to 5% of contributions.

I put in 10% total

I can retire from this job at 40 and get 40% of my base pay at the time, on top of what I've put aside.

I just want enough to cover rent and food. Ideally I'd like to work only if I need to but with how the world is heading who knows

Financially Im set. I make good money in a low cost of living area. My house is completely paid off, my vehicle is paid off and my only monthly bills are required monthly bills. I live pretty damn cheap. Im just stockpiling cash into investments month after month. Money isnt going to keep me working, insurance coverage will.

If something were to ever change and insurance was taken care of, Id retire much earlier. I have excellent retirement through my work. They contribute 200% of what I put in monthly. My retirement fund is quite nice at this stage.
I can pretty much copy that. Minus the house (in Switzerland, most people rent apartments, so do I, normal people can't afford houses anymore).
If nothing very bad happens, I can retire at 63-64 and have a good life until I die.

I'm on a worse pension plan than many older workers in my union (fuck you, IL legislature--even if I understand why), but it's still pretty decent. Starting next month I will finally be able to start contributing to my IRA again for more returement funds.

The way that we have it planned, our pensions + our RSDI will be used to pay for day-to-day living expenses for as long as we can live independently. Meanwhile, her 401(k) and my Roth (and whatever we will get from selling our condo) will be used to finance the time when we need to go live in a nursing home, since we won't have kids to look after us.

We're not exactly where I want us to be, but it's still in a really good place compared to other people's horror stories we've heard.

I have no idea tbh lol. I know I get some kind of pension from my days working at my first job at the grocery store (no idea how much or when I can collect or how to access the info or anything though lol). Ive been contributing to a Roth IRA for a while but I dont have a lot in there (only like 5 digits worth). I have a 401k at my current job that Ive been contributing to (and theyve been matching) for like a year and a half.

The thing is, I just dont make enough money where I can put tons away or invest and still make rent, car payment, other utilities, food, etc. so its like idk. Probably gonna have to work till I die.

I should be fine. I'll have multiple pensions and I've saved well enough. I was on track to retire in my 50s but I switched careers and make quite a bit less. So I'm going until 65 now.

This is also all calculated at if I only continue to make my current pay rate, which does not appear to be how things will play out. So I may be able to shave a few years off

38. Can retire from the military after 20 years and pull a pension. I'll keep working but don't really plan on working past mid 50s at the latest. Biggest reason I'll keep working is I have a kid on the way.

It's not a big enough pension to live large but it's something. It's also variable how much you get so I still don't know how much in total I'll end up with. Just a bit complicated to go into the details here.

Don't have a 401k, only a Roth and brokerage account. In an abbreviated 2021 (I began investing in June), I contributed $37,021 per month. In 2022 I contributed $3,357/month, $2,104/month in 2023, and $9,524/month through the first two months of 2024.

No. I inherited like $240k from my grandparents and decided I might as well invest it in the stock market. Now my goal is to make that <50% of my principal, so I can feel like it's something I've built as much as something I've been handed.

I could probably max it but it's a lot >_> I'm putting in 13% which is over the 10% that people suggest so I guess it's fine

Edit: I do max my roth every year so I guess I still do put in enough after that
