My house is completely paid off, my vehicle is paid off and my only monthly bills are required monthly bills. I live pretty damn cheap. Im just stockpiling cash into investments month after month. Money isnt going to keep me working, insurance coverage will. If something were to ever change and insurance was taken care of, Id retire much earlier. I have excellent retirement through my work. They contribute 200% of what I put in monthly. My wife and I are in a pretty great spot financially, and assuming the market is on an upswing when I'm ready to cash out on my IRA and 401k, There shouldn't be a dip in how I live either. House will be paid off in about 7 years, and I probably have at least 10 more years of working after that. That's $1700 that starting in 2031 will be straight savings instead of paying a mortgage. Like, right now if I wait until 63 years old to retire, I'll get 79.8% of my salary as my monthly retirement.
