Nearly half of American voters think its at least somewhat likely that President Joe Biden will be replaced as the Democratic nominee because of his health, and a third believe Donald Trump could ultimately lose the Republican nomination as a result of his extensive legal troubles, according to a new poll conducted by Monmouth University.

Questions about Bidens age and mental stamina have intensified since last weeks release of Special Counsel Robert Hurs report that described Bidens memory as poor.

The study says the Hur report didnt shift public opinion on whether Biden mishandled classified documents that were found in his home and a think tank office he uses, but it did reinforce the increased concern of Bidens physical and mental health.

Fifty-one percent of voters were confident in the mental capacity and physical stamina of Trump to lead the country but only 32 percent were able to say the same for Biden, the poll found.

Voter opinion on both candidates has shifted from a 2020 study conducted months before the last presidential election.

In 2020, just 45 percent of voters were confident in Trumps stamina. Over half of voters at that time were confident in Bidens stamina a statistic that has decreased significantly.

The trend is also true among Democratic voters: 91 percent of Democrats surveyed in the summer of 2020 had confidence in Bidens mental and physical stamina, compared with 72 percent today.

Just have an age limit of 60. Get rid of both of them.

No. I think they should have started the age limit a long time ago. There's no easy way to fix is right now.

This is simply untrue. It's been an obvious problem that inherently gets worse with time, and Democrats have never developed a response to it in four years. Even attempting to dismiss it this way comes across as sticking your head in the sand.

Doesn't mean Trump should be allowed to win and that he isn't in much worse shape mentally. But it's a real, enduring problem in many people's minds and it won't go away through accusations of conspiracy. Is it really that hard to believe that people might legitimately believe an 81-86 year old, a person who would be the oldest ever in the office, and who appears to struggle with speaking is too old?

I'd rather we acknowledge it, recognize it, and formulate a response that's not either "nuh uh" or "stop bullying the President" or "it's a conspiracy". I don't see the benefit of ignoring the major sustained criticism of a candidate as if that'll make it go away, especially when it hasn't over four years of a surprisingly successful presidency.

I think it's incredibly dangerous to not formulate a response and instead insist that a very common opinion across the political spectrum is actually a Republican plot. That's not effective politics. That's part of what got Hillary beat. I fear the same mistake is being repeated. We're not gonna brute force our way out of this.
