Just started reading Mockingjay for the first time. Third book spoilers

Peeta is in the capitol giving his first interview and is urging a cease-fire. This is Gale's reaction soon after.

Gale's expression darkens. "Peeta might have done a lot of damage tonight. Most of the rebels will dismiss what he said immediately, of course. But there are districts where the resistance is shakier. The cease-fire's clearly President Snow's idea. But it seems so reasonable coming out of Peeta's mouth."

Jon might have done a lot of damage last night. Most people who know how just bad Trump is will understand where he's coming from immediately. But there are millions who attentions have been shakier. The jokes seem so reasonable coming out of his mouth, but it equates two in age without anything else. It levels them out for no reason.

This post is peak democrat, from the young adult media reference to the reduction of all criticism of democrats as "both sides". If it's so important to defeat trump, you'd think democrats would try harder, first and foremost by picking a candidate that doesn't suck so much ass.

Pretty big talk to complain about tired tropes when you're dusting off the old 'do better than Biden' playbook that hasn't been updated since early 2020.

People are allowed to be critical of an entertainment segment.

I voted for biden after he was the forced nominee. It's not just an excuse, I want someone better. By the way, congrats on showing off yet another democrat trope of "if they complain then they're fake progressives and/or they weren't going to vote for a democrat anyway"

You can be critical of Democrats all you want. The problem is that Jon Stewart did not do a very good job in this instance.

He fell directly into the "same thing both sides" flaw that he has done previously (IE see theRally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear), and in attempting to do that "balance" he actually loaded it with "Biden too old" shit.

Guess what? EVERYONE KNOWS BIDEN IS OLD.

He did do that for a segment and to a disappointing degree. Like, he brought up Hur's report and the clearly loaded verbiage about Biden's age and ability to remember.

and immediately did a bait and switch and showed video trashing T**** himself with statement after statement in video of him saying he doesnt remember and mocked him for saying he didnt remember claiming to have a great memory. He showed video of the entire Trump family not remembering

Great segment. Jon is back and he hasn't changed. People just seem to be a lot more sensitive these days. Nothing wrong with poking fun at Joe. The man's backing a genocide but apparently we can't say he's old according to some posters here.

Prime Daily Show-era Jon Stewart is a relic of a simpler time, when Oblivious Centrist might as well have been an official party designation, and we all thought that pointing and laughing at clips of Republicans being stupid / hypocritical would shame them into better behavior.

If he truly hasn't changed at all in the past ten years, he's going to age about as well as iPods and Vine.

That obviously could be a product of the fake "same thing both sides" ism, but it is not a specific criticism I have levelled on the segment. Based on what you posted it seems like you feel criticism based entirely on "but you are helping Republicans" is unworthy of a response, yet I have not made such a claim...
