Not using third party cheats either like gameshark.

Yes for me. If there's like a broken glitch for me to get duplicate items and shit or a way to make me super OP I will do it.

But for general gameplay, not really.

And rarely will I actually break the game to the point of trivializing it. The only game I remember doing that with and actually sticking with it for more than just a fuckaraound was Skyrim.

It depends on what it is, but in general, yes.
I tend to avoid glitches (though I will sometimes dupe in a game thats very stingy with items or money) or anything that cant be done legitimately, but I dont really have issues time saving at times. In general I will become as OP as I can without cheating because it makes me feel smart to break a game.

For instance, Ive tried to play through Witcher 1 modded a few times. On my first couple playthroughs, I spent hours playing Dice Poker to give myself like 15,000 Orens. On my most recent one, I just edited my save to give myself 15,000 Orens and said I played Dice Poker for hours. I dont see it as cheating because it can legitimately be done and I did it twice. I see it as saving time.

the cum dungeon is a save edited chalice dungeon that awards you 90k echoes 6 seconds after you walk in

cummmfpk is the code

walk thru the first doorway. wait 5-10 secs. an enemy far away will die and award the souls. bold mark out. rinse and repeat. equip moon runes to speed it up

really handy to eliminate blood and bullet farm

Depends on the game. Heck, I like to do low level natural magic runs of Final Fantasy VI. So I'll straight up handicap myself in a game in some circumstances.

Funny thing about the low level run (not natural magic, though) of FF6 is that it's usually something done specifically with the purpose of becoming more OP later on through level-up stat bonuses, which you either don't get or get less of if you get level ups earlier in the game. At least, that was the only reason why I ever tried playing that game LLG style.

FF8 and FF9 had similar systems, iirc.

Yup, but if you throw a natural magic game on top of it? Materia stat boosts are not happening.

On this topic:

I just recently found out about and put to practice the "8F" glitch method in the gen 1 Pokemon games that can be used to do things like tweak Pokemon IVs such that they will be shiny when transferred into later games, and rebrand the OT/ID of things like Mew so that they will pass the legality checker and be transferable into later games. I finally got all the prepwork and busywork done tonight, and I'm looking at a full set of shiny birds and Mew+Mewtwo in Home right now.

I'm sure it would be no issue whatsoever to get these things genned nowadays, but there's something strangely enchanting about doing the work yourself to get them via nothing but official/original software and taking advantage of their numerous glitches, instead of various 3rd party tools that came about later that just simply creates whatever you want.

A while back people figured out how to manipulate the RNG for generating chalice dungeons and found/forced one that's extremely high level but has an enemy near the lamp that dies as soon as you spawn, so you get a ton of blood echoes for 0 effort.

The code to generate the dungeon that you input is "cummmfpk". And yes, it's purely a coincidence.

Sometimes it feels like I'm the only guy who didn't dupe the shit out of TOTK.

Or didn't do the dupe glitch in Animal Crossing.

I like to min-max my characters if I can, but this is more about min-maxing fun bullshit, not min-maxing pure power.

Exactly. Thats my pet peeve with 6 and 8. 8 is piss easy if you do this, 6 is actually hard. A LLG is fun in 6 for the sake of it, but its going to be frustrating at certain points.

That is funny. Id be torn on that. Id maybe consider it, but with a Pure Bloodtinge build it wouldnt help at all anyway as you dont get a weapon that scales off Bloodtinge til you beat the boss at Cainhurst, and believe me its a bitch to beat that many bosses without your offensive stat helping you at all. But as soon as you get the Chikage, you become a monster.
