Cheating outside of marriage is wrong. Cheating in marriage is worse because you made a legal promise to each other.

If you arent interested in keeping that promise then get a divorce. If youre not interested in going through that then you shouldnt have gotten married.

It seems that Japanese culture takes this really really seriously, even more than American culture does. Thats just how it is.

People keep saying Japan has a weird culture concerning relationships, which is true for some instances, but I dont think thats relevant to this situation, due to the cheating aspect, so Im not sure why it keeps getting brought up.

The Miss X pageant circuit claims to represent wholesome feminist values. A contestant involved in an extramarital affair, or does drugs, or commits a crime, or poses nude in Playboy, etc., typically gets disqualified or outright loses their crown (remember Vanessa Williams?) . Remember, this is less about this being Japan, and more about the values of the organizations that run the female beauty pageant circuit.

But at the same time it is harder to get caught cheating because it is a social taboo to pry into others affairs too much, including your spouse's. In this case, however, someone had an axe to grind so were not so considerate

lol at all of that
first if he had no intention to leave his wife then he shouldn't have been with the miss second people are together because they like each other and not because of what a peace of paper says
lol at all of your bs. We get it, you have no moral compass, good for you
Precisely, he shouldn't have been with a mistress if he had no intention of leaving his wife. What a grand revelation. You might be shocked to find out that people do things they should not do. People should not lie cheat or steal, yet we live in a society full of liars, cheaters, and thieves.

Second, while you might find the legally binding contract to hold little significance, you keep ignoring it is a legally binding contract. It's

and since when is miss a title you receive for your character? i'm sure everyone that is looking at miss contest with all of the misses in swimsuit really cares about their character, their character is totally something the judges will judge, look at all that character in a swimsuit
Times have changed. According to the organizers, "the Miss Universe contest is more than a beauty pageant, though they are expected to participate in swimsuit and evening gown competitions. Women aspiring to become Miss Universe must be intelligent, well-mannered, and cultured."

and her job still has nothing to do with her personal life, it's not the jobs job to enforce people's personal life, also it's not the fact that she was dating a married men it's the fact she was dating at all, she has to look virgin and available for the all the fans of misses to think they can have her
It very much pertains to her job whether you like it or not. They're interviewed about their personal life and personal values. If during the competition had she been like "I like playing fundraising and trying to bringing awareness to various social issues in my free time. Oh I also like fucking married men" she sure as shit would not have won. And before you try and talk about people are just mad not because of infidelity but because dating in general, bull fucking shit. A top 5 contestant for Miss Universe, Miss Colombia(she had already won her respective pageant) was married with kids. It was quite evident to the public that she was fuckin and that did not stir up a mess

Since always. Back in the old days, you wanted your women pretty, but also chaste.

I think its pretth racist for people to just assume racism in this case.

Literally every single topic that is about Japan will have at least one person saying some variation of "Japan is racist" or "Japanese people are xenophobic".

Reddit is way worse about this

Beauty contests are so 20th century. Lining a bunch of women up in swimsuits, and voting on which one is da best looking just seems so weird nowadays.
