Hell yeah man 90 lb dumbbell incline press is no joke. Nothing better than making gains in the gym

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/e/eea98f84.jpg

Dinner tonight was an 8 oz choice tenderloin steak and some cauliflower rice medley, starting to get good at making these grill lines on my new grill

Honestly I just buy the frozen bag of cauliflower rice, put it on a plate w/ a cover, and microwave for 3 to 4 minutes then put some soy sauce on it. Its not amazing, but I like it a lot better than just plain broccoli

I am moving on Saturday and I just ran a loop from the apartment to the house and back. 6.5 miles but I walked the last 2 because I don't want sore legs. That was fun. Took too long of a break from work, but fuck it, it's my birthday

I get in weird dieting mindsets when I'm trying my best. Food just becomes numbers and I shovel it in my mouth with zero thought. It's a perfect diet and I'm just going through the motions. That's probably not a super healthy way to think, but I've never reflected on it much. I usually pop out of it when I get back to maintaining/gaining again.

This, there is pretty much a healthy diet version of every single food out there that you can cook. And every recipe online lists the nutrition information right there, so its easy to track the calories and the macros to make sure you are hitting your goals. A diet can be so much tastier and easier than trying to slam chicken/broccoli/rice 5 times a day. I just got an Ice Cream maker and its super easy to make a low calorie high protein dessert that is delicious. I regularly cook french toast, lasagna, chicken stir fry, steaks, sloppy joes, whatever I am in the mood for.

Hurting my back through bad form is the best way to force me into time off from the gym. I used to get hit like twice a year from a momentary breakdown of form in my bent over barbell row. I eventually just switched to dumbells and do one at a time where you lean on something. When I waa first learning deadlifts I was minorly hurting myself like every other week because I didn't know wtf I was doing

Moral is, sometimes certain exercises just don't work well for your body proportions or current strength level without risking injury. Don't be afraid to try something else that hits the same muscles but might work better for you. You can even circle back to that exercise later in your career. You might be ready then

https://youtu.be/9JX0XBgaiSg?si=38Ufd6hMc19XCCNR&start=175

Chris Bumstead (Olympia champ) and Wesley Vissers (Arnold Classic champ) just came out with a video today where they talk about squats and deadlifts, and they both say that they dont do them anymore because the injury risk is so high.

Squats/deadlifts are fun because you can throw a LOT of weight around and you improve quickly, but they really arent needed, you can get all the same gains with safer lifts.

Feeling more mobile today, I managed to skip the gym and instead brought the workout home. I put my resistance bands to good use, performing curls and tricep pulldowns. I got creative with my dresser for cable rows, and my stairs became the perfect spot for dips. Im brainstorming ideas for tomorrows session.

For the Inverted Row,this is when you use the bench press par for pull ups. Now clue how to do that one at home.

Machine Ab Crunches I guess my ab well or just crunches those hurt my neck so I don't know.

As for the Machine Bench Press, if improvising with a bands doesnt work out, Ill switch to dumbbells. Im considering trying it on the floor.(willthat work)

Ill be doing dips again; theyre a staple in my routine.

The Cross Cable Pull is a bit of a mystery, but Ill figure out an alternative.

And the Parallel Bar Leg Raise? Ill need to get creative there too.

AngelsNAirwav3s

Thanks for the video I don't like Squats at all.

as to the dieting, in my case i still eat mostly the same foods i did pre-diet, but i'm a lot more careful of how much i'm eating. I set myftinesspal to about 10 pounds below my current weight, with aggressive 2 pounds per week loss, and i try to still be in a deficit below that number it gives me per day. It's not too hard given my size i can still comfortably eat 1500+ calories a day of pure food and i'm not even that hungry if i eat high in protein food. Yesterday i basically survived all day off a half rack of ribs and a few fries i had at 5am. wasn't even really hungry when i got home at 8pm but i ate because i was in a 1300+ calorie deficit below my daily goal for the day and i already did over an hour of exercise

it's honestly astonishing how much weight loss just...varies. Everyone and their mom has a different opinion on weight loss and theres always studies and broscience and people debunking stuff. Just goes to show how complex the body is that theres no 100% guaranteed advice

on a side note. i'm finally getting into the groove of hitting the gym every day. I feel energized when i walk in and get changed, i sweat more, i push myself, i'm slimming down, people are noticing the difference, i'm eating a lot less too, like struggling to hit my BMR calories less. Weird feeling though to technically be more physically active than the average joe given my size lol. Felt a bit of a strain on my knees today though doing the leg press, I wanna do some free group classes tomorrow but i think I may need to just rest this weekend instead since i've been basically 5 days in a row and give my body time to heal

Rest is as important as being in the gym. Remember that, your body needs to rest to build . As for your knees, you can try knee sleeves. I have some from Amazon for like 7 or 9 dollars something like that. And they work really well. They can go up to the 50s and more. But my little cheap ones have helped my knees on leg day.

yeah i didn't really feel like i needed to rest because i feel fine each day. my left knee is just bad and i need to strengthen it. I was gonna get up and get dressed to do classes today but my knee felt funny so i'm not gonna chance it ill just stay in this weekend.

on that note, i think my weight is stuck again lol scales are giving funny readings, i know they're inaccurate but in some cases it says i've gained weight. I won't live and die by the scale though i'll just continue working out and eating a lot less and eventually my body will have to give up and drop the weight

After taking Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday off I rode for 50 miles indoors while eating well the whole day. Stepped on the scale and saw 245 for the first time in a while. Slept for 7 hours, got up not feeling sore and ran for 2 miles even though it's hot, humid and a high pollen count.

I'm going to do my errands in and around the house and hopefully walk 5 to 10 miles and either lift weights or swim just before or after the sun goes down on the East Coast. That will allow me to ice my joints and sleep for 8 to 10 hours. The challenge is going to be eating well. If I do every thing on my list, chicken wings and wine may be on the list for dinner.

Loving Huel. It keeps you full and tastes great when you're hungry. Best of all you feel better after eating it. I ate 2 large fries and a double stack from Wendy's on Wednesday and it tasted good but I felt horrible afterwards. I couldn't wait to have a green smoothie and the Mac and Cheeze from Huel.

My scale is all over the place. I tried in different sports and I went from 189 to 205. (while I would hate to be out of 100 club.) I am still okay with my progress. However, this is odd. I need to find out how much I really weight.

Ive recently set up a weight bench at home. Since Ive been unable to go to the gym, Ive been keeping up with my workouts at home. Now that Im able to walk a bit more, Ive managed to complete a full workout session.

Heres the breakdown of my workout, performed with resistance bands:

Cable Curls: 3 sets of 8 reps at 70 pounds
Cable Tricep Pushdowns: 3 sets of 8 reps at 70 pounds
Cable Lying Tricep Extensions: 3 sets at 70 pounds
Dumbbell Bench Press: 3 sets of 8 reps at 30 pounds
Planks

The only issue Ive encountered is the price of dumbbell plates. Like wait the hell.

i got full off eating a small bag of Haribo peaches as a snack. I only ate like 4 and my tummy was like "no more" even though by all means relative to my body i barely ate anything that day besides 3 chicken strips, water, and that.

I think my stomach is shrinking and my body is just expecting that i'll generally eat a lot less than I used to lol

Okay I am back at 197 on my Wii scale. I no when in got the lower number it could have just been a glitch or something. Because today it said since last week. I have gained 6 pounds. And while I am not great at eye balling weight gain and lost. I know that didn't happen. I also know that I could have gone up since I wasn't moving around at all last week. But again I know I did not gain all of that. So I am going to keep pushing. I know when I go to the doctor I will be out of the 100 club l when I have to weigh in with more then just shorts. But I am ready for that. I know all ready it is going to be hard. But in bracing myself. Anywho...inam thinking about getting some hooters. I am not giving up or giving in
But I had some the other day and Damn.

weight fluctuates a lot, theres no way people put on 6 pounds of true fat in a week or two unless they absolutely go bonkers and eat pure junk food all day every day. Sometimes we just retain a lot of water due to high sodium diets

Thanks for chiming in! So, after giving it some thought, I've come to a realization I might be experiencing this issue because I've recently started taking steroids. No, not the Mark McGwire kind that goes in your butt, but some medication the doctor prescribed for my mobility issues. It seems like I'm retaining fluids like crazy and not peeing them out. On the bright side, my pants are falling off because I'm shedding weight, so even with the scale saying that I know I am the right direction. I'm looking fabulous and feeling... well, let's just say not exactly fine. I keep telling myself I'm feeling fine, but truth be told, it's bothering me. Here's hoping I can start making some serious gains, maybe that can be a plus since I have lose so much good mass while losing weight.

here's what i do

abandon the scale, unless you spent thousands of dollars on it its unreliable, don't let it dictate your actions or progress. If people can notice your weight loss you're doing the right thing. You say you notice your clothes fitting better, thats a guarantee of weight loss right there.

Hell, my scale weighs me differently depending on where i'm standing in the house. In some spots it says I've gained almost 12 pounds since my last inbody scan 2 weeks ago(bullshit) and in other spots it says i've stayed the same, lost 2 pounds, or lost 14 pounds since then. Digital scale too.

I'm strictly following CICO, factually speaking there is no way my body composition is exactly the same as it was 2 or 3 weeks ago, or even last week given the massive deficits i have been putting up.

One good thing i read that keeps me on track that might help you is "Nobody would care if they said you could be 500 pounds and still have your ideal body"

I dont do conventional deadlifts anymore, either. The setup and rest between sets just takes too long in my opinion. Plus, its such a taxing exercise that its hard to program into my routine. Romanian deadlifts are still a part of my routine, though. Great exercise.

Dumbbell plates are a friend for life. The ones I bought in 2020 I still use every day.

You got choices. If your weight bench is standard, the weights can be a lot more affordable. If they're Olympic you'll be able to use them anywhere for anything.

Also you can use either for dumbells too, which is awesome. The folks that buy fixed weight dumbells when they're first starting out is absurd and a massive waste of money. Even if you're just purchasing enough weights for dumbells that you're only maxing out at 30lbs, you've opened up a world of other exercises that you cannot do with two fixed 30lb dumbells. You have a ton of options with various exercise and can do all sorts of progressive overload. Then if you stick with it and grow, you can invest some more money later.

Pricing wise, precovid a good price was $1/lb now it's around double that. Your best bets are always around this time of year where people have abandoned their new years resolutions and looking to sell. Used weights are functionally the same as brand new ones.

Walked 4 miles while drinking wine and playing 2K around midnight. Lifted weights a bit but not seriously. Rode for an hour in Zone 2 (avg 144 Heart Rate) watching the first half of Magic-Pacers. Need to lift weights before my week starts. 247 after eating 16 chicken wings at 3 am.

Lot of good sporting events. LSU-South Carolina ended with cute college girls fighting, USA Women's squad is trying to lift a trophy against Brazil.
