I was kinda thinking with AI proliferating and getting better at faking stuff into the future, will people simply question every single historical event? Any video proof can just be explained away as an AI fabrication. We already have people denying the moon landing as a fake video. How will you prove anything once the tech gets indistinguishable from real content?

None of these statistics should be surprising given that more than half of US adults read at below the 6th grade level.
God, don't remind me. Even my father does and he's smarter and far more knowledgeable than I am, but he reads soooo fucking slowly. While putting a computer together recently I discovered I could read a full sentence 5 times over before he'd finish it once.

Christ, if he read at the speed I do he'd probably know everything instead of damn near everything.

Staggering detail from a recent video. When Soviet troops liberated Auschwitz, one of the horrifying things that they discovered was a 7-ton pile of human hair.
Of course I believe the Holocaust was real but still, I'll willingly watch that, thank you.

It really helps the message stick in young, impressionable minds when you can hear a firsthand account of someone who lived through something so unimaginably horrible. Like I said earlier, it's not a guarantee that it'll stick with everyone, but being able to hear and empathize with these stories puts the message on a different level than memorizing a list of facts out of a history book.

While there are a multitude of other factors at play here, I really don't think it's a coincidence that Holocaust denial and fascism in general are taking a sudden uptick right around the same time that the few living Holocaust survivors are getting too old to visit schools. Sometimes it feels like those fascist fucks were just biding their time until they all died off.
Your explanation doesn't make a lick of sense. There are lots of things people are never going to experience with their own eyes outside of television and pictures, but know they exist. And you simply cannot expect people to only believe in history unless they've talked to it.

We've had a rise in people insisting Earth is flat, despite it not only being known to be round for thousands of years but it being easy to prove to ourselves that it's round. We're living in a misinformation/disinformation age where the most clueless people get a soap box to preach from and people prefer deliberate ignorance.
Or the newer one, nothing exists outside of the sphere of our planet, the sun and moon are actually very close by

Isn't that pretty similar to religious views?

You mean the War of Northern Aggression? The USA and its components rarely want to acknowledge the bad things the country has done. I was surprised when I found out not every one in the American education system learns about the trail of tears.

A whole semester might be a bit much IMO. But yeah, we covered it multiple times in multiple ways. I met Elie Wiesel (guy who wrote Night), and I remember he asked a question (at my school) about how would they sometimes checked if you were a Jewish boy/man and nobody knew. He looked at me (it was ramadan or close to it when he came, so I told him I was Muslim) and said "He knows". The answer was that they'd check to see if you were circumcised. That really stuck with me. Plus I've been to the Holocaust Museum at least 8 times (I live nearby), so its crazy that people doubt it.

I feel like some of this is regional. The percentage of the population that is Jewish varies massively between states from 8.8% in New York down all the way to .03% in South Dakota.

For example, it was always inevitable that the hard right world wide (including the US) would return to its ancient vice of anti-semitism as memory of the Holocaust faded.

Now is obviously the time that prediction comes true.

How can you handle eight trips through that?

Ive been there many times, usually with a synagogue or teen group or something like that. Ive also been to Yad Vashem about five times. Whats crazy is each time you visit a museum like that, you actually learn something new.

Besides, that museum does something smart. To actually see the Einsatzgruppen film and that kind of stuff, you have to look over these cement blocks that otherwise would impede your vision. So its not like you have to see it.

When I was in HS it was covered very briefly. I can probably sum it up as "World War 2 happened and there was also the Holocaust. Okay now let's move on."
Part of it was probably just me not paying attention but I feel like I'd remember if it was covered for a whole semester.

What's that got to do with anything? Have you ever met cave men, or people from the medieval ages, or seen real live dinosaurs? You learned about them though.

Lots of people deny dinosaurs too. And while Ive never seen cavemen denial specifically, their existence contradicts the Abrahamic religions so creationists likely deny them too.

Cave art that dates to before creation (according to young earth creationists) is presumably put there by God (or Satan) as a test of faith. Ditto with the entire fossil record.
