Is this game like the others where it's recommended doing all dungeon crawling as much as you can when you can so you have most free time outside of it?

It seems very loose compared to P4 and P5

This game has very hard stopping points that you can't get past until you progress in the story. This game also no longer has the tired mechanic that the original hed so you're absolutely free to just spend hours grinding and then reach that stopping point and then just do whatever you want until the next area opens.

I know in the original all the women fell in love with you regardless, but in this game is there actually a penalty for dating everyone? If not I might do the harem thing for the hell of it but still prioritize mitsuru over everyone else.

P5 MC is the only one who can get with his teacher and his Doctor.

Chad Narukami has a pop star simping for him pretty much immediately. Joker and Makoto didn't have anyone simping for them from the get go from what I remember.

I got most of mine from Elizabeth from raising social links. There are some around town, but not a lot. Some guides say they respawn, but I have yet to see one respawn.

Wow, the second full moon boss is way easier than the first.

They changed their weakness to two affinities that Junpei and Akihiko knew. Because of the shift mechanic I was able to get 3 all out attacks per turn on them.

I think you can change it in the menu.

the music has fully won me over at this point. Mass destruction is the only song i think i fully prefer from the original now.

Mass Destruction and Moon's Reaching Stars are clear downgrades from the original. Which kind of sucks since they are played a lot in the game.

I love the new moon reaches for the stars tbh. That was actually one of the songs i could never really get into in the original.

Havent read the thread and dont want to be too negative, but so far it does feel like they looked at the original cutscenes and decided they couldnt even *try* to replicate that

I like Persona 3 Reload, but I don't like it as much as Persona 4 and I definitely don't like it as much as Persona 5.

The story is basically nonexistent so far. It's just save the world from the Dark Hour. Persona 4 had the murder mystery aspect immediately. Persona 5 had the interrogation and the opening escape with Morgana.

10 hours in and there's basically not a story so far.

Please tell me there is more to this. Because I also don't like these party members as much as P4 or P5 either.

This group isnt intended to be friends like 4 or 5 for a lot of the game, its a lot more forward with the teen angst. Yes there is more to it. What day are you on btw?

the foundations of the story are still being laid 10 hours in.... it does get better after you beat all the full moon shadows and have the full party.

I honestly vastly prefer this intro to 4 or 5s. Youre an active player in whats going on in like 2 hours. 5 will take like 8 or 9 just to let you start doing stuff on your own

Right after exams. Now have the boxer character but can't move forward in Tartarus yet.

Because it's narrative heavy from the start. P3 is not. The main character is just there and isn't really a player in the main narrative (at least not yet). Joker has agency in the game's plot immediately and the story doesn't happen without him.

I prefer P5's setup and design.

Also, P5 is arguably my favorite game ever so maybe I'm being harsh with P3 Reloaded, but you can tell that the core design of P3 is dated and that P5 perfected the Persona formula.

See persona 5 WAS one of my favorite games ever, but then i played 3 and 4, and then 4 again. And now 3 again. I liked 5 a little less every time i tried to go back to it.

I honestly think 5 missed the mark on perfecting the formula. its gameplay and systems overall? fantastic and definitely the best of the series. The pacing is probably my least favorite of the series though, even compared to original 3.

5 INSISTS upon flooding you with heavy amounts of information and exposition that youre already aware of, and takes control away from you to explain something obvious way more than it should. It leaves it feeling incredibly bloated, especially on replay.

It feels easier to raise social stats this time around. It might just be because there are more options for activities at night, but Im on 6/1 and I already have all 3 stats at rank 3 which seems kinda quick

Yeah, you have way more options. Previously, the only real way to raise points a ton a night was by playing arcade games, which were really expensive at the start of the game. Now you have more options and you can work at the cafe to not only gain 2 stats but also get money.

The cap is 6 iirc for P3, which is one more than P4 and P5.

I know. Im saying being halfway by June in all 3 stats is pretty quick progress. Compared to the original I feel like it took longer

Interesting how theyve made Fuukas enemy analysis an ability that costs SP. Makes the SP increases she gets from leveling up actually relevant

id definitely recommend focusing heavily on your stats if theyre all still 1 at that point.

Many social links after the initial few will have some kind of stat gate.

The story doesn't really get going until Strega starts to get more and more involved (don't really remember which month that is, but it's around the time Shinji joins the party). That's also when some of the party members start getting their character development. Up until that point, the game is mainly just introducing you to the party members and giving you a little bit of each of their personal stories (aside from Yukari, who gets alot of her backstory dropped on you pretty early on).

The new theurgy mechanic is cool. Its basically just limit breaks. Not sure if Im a fan of the new outfits

Really like the new outfits myself. Theurgy makes killing wealth hands so much easier. MC building it up via switching personas makes it so easy to use the Jack bros Theurgy as much as possible.

They seem a little over designed to me, but Im leaving them on for now to give them a chance to grow on me. Im glad they at least give you the option to switch back to the regular outfits. I do like the headset on Fuuka, though.

Are they overdesigned? I mean most if not all of them really are just a black jacket over what they typically wear, well Junpei wears his jacket around his waist. Oh and the bigger shield like armband. Though really like that they come with a good weapon so you dont have to spend extra money earlish on.

Akihikos Ive been waiting for this just doesnt hit the same

The new outfits are terrible. I'm especially angry that changing them doesn't affect the character portrait during dialogue and cutscenes

I do really like that alternate battle music isnt tied to costumes like in P5

Question: If you beat a boss, but one of the party members is downed and misses out on getting the xp, do you start over or roll with it? Starting over would be crazy, right? hahahaha
