I already decided I am since I want to see all of the scenes the game offers and already know damn well I won't have the time to do 2 full playthroughs back to back. Especially with FF7 rebirth right around the corner and me playing granblue fantasy relink already.

Eh, I feel like playing that way kinda ruins the experience. The whole point of the game is that youre not really meant to see everything. The game expects you to budget your time and make decisions on how to spend it based on what you consider to be important. Thats why these games are damn near impossible to 100% without following a specific guide to the letter, because you arent really meant to. Youre meant to just go with the flow.

But its a single player game so by all means play however you want, I just wanted to drop my take on it

Yeah i really dont like playing with guides for persona, even on replays tbh. It makes every play through feel a little different.

Plus once you beat it once, NG+ makes it much easier, so even if you dont want to replay it again right after, its there whenever you do want to go back and get 100%.

Nah I agree with you. At any other time I do play these persona games properly and just winging it throughout my first playthrough. The little bit I played of persona 3 fes on the PS2, my first time playing persona 4 golden on the vita and base persona 5 I just went through it and did the best I could.

This game just unfortunately released at a time where there is a bit of games I have been wanting to play and so doing that second playthrough for a lengthy persona game isn't something I will be doing anytime soon.

Had this game instead released during a slower summer month with no other rpgs before or after it I'd have done the usual blind playthrough so I can boot up that second one right after. (I also don't want this game to be one of those eternal backlog games where I do one blind playthrough and never get to that second run for months, or could be years).

*For what it's worth when I had a guide to my side for my persona 5 royal playthrough (I really did not want to screw up doing the new content for this very text-heavy n' lengthy game), I did actually try to solve all school questions and crossword puzzles on my own first before either clicking the online assist thing for the school answers or glancing at the guide for the crossword answers. I at least solved half of that on my own, lol.*

Man, after just looking through that guide, I'm already so far behind. Maybe I'll just skim over it or play however I want after all.

The hype for FF7 rebirth is real though.

Man finding a Spirit Drain skill card on first actual visit to Tartarus is so good. No more SP problems!

It did, but it was pretty inconsequential since the boss went down pretty easily and didnt really have any scary attacks.

I swear she had either way more HP this time or high defense because I was doing nowhere near as much damage. I ended the fight with 30 seconds left and everyones health at critical >_>

I know we already had stuff like the dancing games and persona 4 arena, but seeing the persona 3 cast all....non-chibi, tall/regular body proportions, beautiful n' handsome, and HDey is pretty nice.

My shower thought today was trying to think of what the title for P4 remake would be. I was trying to keep in the spirit of P3 Reload

Persona 4 Rerun (like a tv episode rerun to fit the tv theme)
Persona 4 Retuned (like tuning a tv)
Persona 4 Redialed (dont touch that dial)

Got to Floor 18 of Tartarus.

Played Peraona 4 and Persona 5 and loved them.

I don't think this game is as strong as either of those so far, but it's still damn good. But I'm only 3 hours in. At this point though, P4 and P5 had me locked away and playing nothing but those games. I also found those characters more interesting from the get go.

Persona 4 Rerun is a great name. However, it will probably be something else because of the negative connotations of "rerun".

I vastly prefer how fast 3 gets going. Youre freely fucking around in Tartarus within the first hour or 2.

5s intro has completely stopped me in my tracks before on replays.

That club looked "lame" in the original. What is worse about it? The monk hung upstairs, at night. It was very small then. They didn't license any Lacuna Coil or music you'd hear in VtM: Bloodlines.

maybe its just that the NPCs arent dancing. it does look kinda weird. they tried to keep the background NPCs in the same style as the ones that walk in the streets/school but it doesnt really work that well for the club. not a big deal anyway

The mannequins are pretty weird

Sorry I was a bit snippy, but I suppose they could have made it look more like a rave but before it was just static npcs and a very small club heh. I wouldn't expect themselves to waste their efforts on such an inconsequential place.

Yeah club escapade looks strange for sure lmao.

It would look fine if the dancers had even just a couple of frames of animation. Just a bit of motion on screen would make it look so much better

if you get close you can see that at least some of them have a really slight idle animation. Idk why they chose to have them gently sway instead of actually dancing or moving

got to the second border floor in a single night, still on merciless as well. while i was scraping by on SP, i still had a stockpile of SP recovery items this time so far comfier than the first border floor. the boss of this floor is BS until you realize the trick which trivializes it. didnt even need any items once i figured it out

if you use the network, you can see like over 50% of people smash out the second floor the first night its available lmao
im honestly surprised that a lot of the weaknesses of enemies is stashed somewhere in the back of my head from my only playthrough of this game like 10+ years ago. easy to recall when I see them

i waited until i got akihiko. how many randos are using the OP DLC personas or not completing the floor in 1 go?

i managed to get through it without aki with a good lilim, lucky crits with junpei and using all my SP items and most of my HP items.

There is a weird amount of transphobia surrounding the game on this site. Ive seen multiple posters on both the games board as well as the ps5 board either criticize the removal of the transphobic scene, or call me deluded for thinking it needed to be removed.

no its been ezfied. the baton pass and assist system from P5R is in, and there are a lot more methods to raise social stats. fusion is a lot more clarified/easy to do too, or maybe its just because I'm not a persona virgin like I was my first playthrough

Got to Tartarus. Wont be able to explore until tomorrow night though.

lol it was just my fault for not healing before the fight, thought I could make it. I was just a few steps from floor 16 too.

Am i insane for liking this version of tartarus more than P5s dungeons? Pretty much all of 5s dungeons turned into kind of a slog to me, but im really enjoying Tartarus.

The tension of trying to get a whole block done in one night is really fun

A lot of times I do just want to work through a maze and just fight battles. It's why I liked the Answer. Which honestly isn't really worth worrying about much today. But the series/SMT in general was real fresh to me so I was like oh so it's a epilogue of sorts and is mostly about the battles and the party is (still on) AI. Cool.

Absolutely not. Even the secret fight has one specific strategy that you pretty much have to use also guarantees you win.

I think 3 is definitely harder than 4 or 5 lol, not because its specifically very difficult, but because 4 and 5 are really easy.

Some of the floor bosses are way harder than any of 4 or 5s mini bosses, and even most bosses in 5 tbh.

Well Junpei was first. Also even though Junpei likes baseball somewhat I think based on the way he swings his sword and screams home run for crits he's not into track or sports in general.

Plus he doesn't blame shitty adults for everything.

Just cleared Empress/Emperor earlier today.

Loving every minute of this game so far. I always thought P3 was the worst Persona but only because of how infuriating it was to actually play sometimes. They've fixed a lot of that with plenty of little QoL changes. I might actually have to bump 3 up a notch and say 4 is the worst one (but don't get me wrong, all 3 mainline Persona games that actually exist are really good, and I still really like 4 a lot) I haven't played 4 in a while though so that could also be factoring into why I'm currently liking 3 more.

Maybe if we get a Persona 4 remake then it'll knock 3 back down. Idk. I'm fickle I guess.

He definitely swung his sword like a bat. But other than him saying HOMERUN for a crit. I think that was it in the OG or P3P.

I always found Persona 4's dungeons to be worse than 3s. 4's dungeons were basically 3's but each floor was bigger. IMO, randomly generated rated floors work much better when they are smaller.

4's just aesthetically looked better, I know Golden added some conveniences but my knowledge is mostly about the PS2.

I don't think I can say 4's were better than 3's as 3's had their own vibe. Both were cool to me. A lot of times 5's just got too involved even with Royal though I got every will seed and all of that because I was determined I guess. It got annoying.

So what waifu is everyone going with this time around? I always gravitate toward Yuko or Chihiro. Anyone going for a harem?

I actually did like Yukari in the original and of course Mitsuru. Last time I was playing it was on the PSP and the female route. So I actually forgot most of the original social routes that are romanceable that one sports coach, was pretty cool. I think that may have been Yuko.
