I'll be honest. Some of those pics fucked me up.

The comments on reddit also make me feel sick that they don't even care.

As a teacher I often think about the Ulvade victim who was only identified by her green converse and how I think about my students who often wear the same hoodie or sneakers everyday and it breaks me.

If the shooting happened in the River Oaks community of Houston instead of Uvalde and Ted Cruz's daughter had been among the children destroyed by that weapon, I suspect he'd change his tune on gun control. So long as the victims are other people's children, he and his ilk won't budge. They don't care.

If he did change his tune then the party would pressure him to quit 'for his mental wellbeing'

I saw the images on Reddit.

Hard to stomach seeing that kind of carnage and knowing alot of the victims were children. I've seen alot on the internet and those images still hit.

Unfortunately, I don't see any changes being made. That imagery? Those people? Those lives? They are seen as acceptable sacrifices to keep 2A from being infringed. They won't say it out loud, but the inaction tells us exactly what they believethese deaths are not only okay, but necessary.

I fucking hate this is where we're at, as a country.

They're openly defiant to the carnage and the needed change. I'm a reasonable gun owner, but the fact that I can strap my Glock to my hip and openly walk around like I'm in a fucking posse from the 1870s is ridiculous. With no permit either.

Fun Fact: Many towns in the 19th century American West required you to check your guns when entering. That's right, the Wild West had stricter gun laws than we do today.

Just saw the pictures. Holy shit. How anyone can see those and think that a person should be allowed to legally own an AR-15 (aside from on-duty, active military on an official exercise) is beyond fathom.

Also, every one of those cops that stood around while the children were being murdered and terrorized should be locked away in federal prison. EVERY SINGLE FUCKING ONE!!!

So does the government because they banned people from buying them easily. You have to either get a special license or fill out and atf 4 form and then wait a year. Plus they cost 10s of thousands of dollars.

Honestly I hate the whole pro-2A argument. That amendment specifically mentions a well regulated militia. I really don't think it was intended to mean that every citizen should just have their own personal arsenal of guns. But they fiercely fight against any gun restrictions, which puts us in a perpetual cycle of gun violence

That actually was the argument for the longest time until Scalia ruled with Heller (I believe) that every individual actually does have a personal right to firearms that can't be infringed.

That's how they were able to ban the sale and ownership of "tommy guns", because at the time that ruling had not happened. Shit, in 1939 the SC even specifically ruled the ban didn't violate the Cons. Today they'd be like "well they didn't have tommy guns in 1790, so clearly we're not allowed to do anything against them cause there were no laws regulating them"

It's sickening.
