The poor and middle class already pay more taxes than the rich.

The poor pay very little in taxes... because they have no money to tax in the first place. The middle class absolutely gets shafted in the rates they're paying compared to the rich though.

Pointing out Democrats are only trying to raise taxes on the rich, not the poor or middle class like some falsely believe does not mean in the slightest I was arguing it's unfair Dems want to raise taxes on the rich. You jumped to that conclusion instead of reading the post for exactly what it said and only what it said.

You jumping to conclusions doesn't make make what you thought to be implied actually true. My post didn't argue it was somehow unfair to raise taxes on the rich.

if we dont pay taxes then medicaid and medicare reimbursements will go down and my salary will decrease

Try reading both post thoroughly without jumping to conclusions. Maybe you will get it at some point, probably not given you seem to be doubling down on inserting your conclusions to things never said.

It's not a "melty" at all. Just pointing out how you completely misunderstood his post. The topic title asked why Dems want to raise taxes. He said Dems only want to raise taxes on the rich, not the middle class and poor.

He never said nor implied that it was unfair. He was explaining to the TC that raising taxes on the rich 1% and not the rest of the 99% is not strange because most people wouldn't be paying more in taxes.

"Elephant in the room" feels like odd phraseology when discussing taxing the poor and middle class over the rich.

Americans have decided they prefer the low tax rates that Republicans champion while also having the expensive social safety net programs that Democrats champion.

Could get it wrong? You did get it wrong. What you thought the post was implying doesn't change that isn't what in reality it actually said. What you thought was wrong.

Tax the rich

Also ban lobbyists, ban elected officials and their families/friends from the stock market, and if the yearly budget doesn't have a surplus everybody gets the boot AND barred from holding office ever again.

Unfortunate truth is, if we want the social safety bets of European countries, we need to tax everyone more, including the middle class.
