I'm sure people will complain no matter who would play Samus in a Metroid movie. And will complain about the movie regardless of how it is produced and set up. Frankly to be any good in movie format, Samus will need to be working together with a team, perhaps including other hunters and federation forces, and the ship AI she has in Fusion and beyond. But this also would make it feel less "metroidy." I probably wouldn't see the movie regardless of who is playing who though. I don't watch live action stuff in theatres, and watch relatively little live action stuff in general unless you count video game streamers like CarlSagen42 (a youtuber and twitch streamer who plays troll levels).
