True - i dont think i would.

It has been on a downward slide for awhile. It is pretty much expected that it will be gone someday. I guess I will just enjoy it while it lasts. It still is not dead yet, although it weakens every year.

I dont like Reddit much either but whatever

Eh, not really, I don't really have good rep here so I wouldn't care as much. But, I mean there are some good posters here and there or good people in general however with genuine good intentions. But for the weird posters on this site, they usually try to highlight the bad stuff that they extrapolate from other posters they hate like me(probably cause views like mine don't align with their life experiences) that they try to claim are more true then the good things about a certain posters that they think are untrue that they try to diminish. That's just life with certain weird people, they try to get people to remember the bad things more than the good, well just the bad ones really.

Making wrong assumptions and not thinking things through is also bad, like have they ever thought about poster's career changes later in life? I even knew an apartment manager in person that went back to my local school to get a degree in engineering and graduate at 36, lol.

But yeah, I concur with the other poster, boards like politics left a bad impression on me.

Oddly enough, besides Yahoo, this is the only site that I used to visit back when my parents got Internet for the first time in 97 that is still around. I also don't visit Yahoo anymore so it is the only site from that time that I still pay attention to. So in that sense I guess I would miss it.

That said, even in my "prime visiting days" I would post way less than most people here. So I would probably recover pretty easily. It might actually convince me to make a Reddit account (probably not).

A modern-day Newgrounds would be... interesting, to say the least. I doubt it would actually take off, though. Most of the crappy and/or wildly offensive games people uploaded there would just be put on an actual digital storefront now so they could make a few bucks off of them.

Well it wasn't just the games but also the animations

Yeah, and those could potentially take off where Youtube is such a horrible place to be a creator right now. I don't believe Newgrounds ever compensated anyone, though, so that's obviously a disadvantage compared to Youtube et al (and a major reason why it's not exactly a popular content platform anymore).

Yeah I don't think anyone got rich off Newgrounds except Tom Fulp and Dan Paladin

A few people who were subsequently quite successful on Youtube and other platforms got their start there (or on similar sites), like EgoRaptor, but that was definitely a secondary thing.

They embedded Ruffle, a flash emulator, so effectively nothing changed, and flash never died. People are actually still making stuff with flash.

That's why emulators are my favorite kind of software.

Thats. All still here and available to for new submissions on games?

on one hand, I don't come to this site often and can go months without even thinking about it
on the other hand, the reason I appreciate this site is because it still feels like "old internet" from 2000-2013ish, which is in my opinion when the internet started taking over life and got weird. I don't like it. so, it's like a living time capsule which is cool, and not too many sites out there give that feeling.
sure, there are other forums that are way more expansive like reddit, but I never really feel like posting there. like, the best comparison I can make about reddit is my aunt. she's a really cordial person on the surface, but when she says things you can tell there's something "beneath it all" if that makes sense, that's the vibe I get from reddit, like the posters there try to curate or type their posts in such a way that it "fits" the reddit way of talking.

Its still that. They just have extra things, as well Which is probably good. Having the questions and boards for each game allow others to communicate on more specific parts of the games

They have to. If you dont, you can end up getting downvoted to where you post is hidden. And some people just downvote things that already have a downvote, or things that oppose them, even if not worthy of a downvote. And getting down votes can lock you out of certain subreddits

On Reddit, the upvote system discourages people from saying anything even slightly controversial and encourages them to do whatever will get them the most likes. Posts and comments being ranked by the most upvoted by default makes it worse. The system is good for getting answers to questions since the highest voted posts (usually) have the best answers, but for anything else it's more of a hindrance.

You can have that and just avoid the messages boards But many people use the message boards since the tips, cheats, and guides only have so much Boards allow for more help If they got rid of the boards, the site becomes useless

Why? The existence of the message boards hasn't affected the guide/tips side of things. It's really only enhanced them by allowing people to ask specific questions if a guide doesn't cover them (since, realistically, nobody's going to write a whole guide just to cover a handful of questions that aren't covered by existing ones). If you don't want to engage with the boards, all you have to do is not click on them.
