They should be dropping cards still, but they havent in quite a while despite claiming some still would. Howard aint gonna be getting bought at 6k tokens by much of anyone

If Angel also worked from in-hand it -might- be okay but even that's not particularly great. I wonder if he's like Quicksilver where the point is to teach the early player a lesson

In-hand Angel would be weird because it becomes a guaranteed play in destroy decks.

Which, I think the actual intended strength of Angel is to be a deck thinner, but it's too inconsistent. Hard to compete with America Chavez, especially since they don't combo well.

Angel - 1/1
When destroyed or discarded put Archangel into play at a random location.
Archangel - 2/4
On Reveal: Discard the highest cost card from your hand.

How I'd fix. Better flavor imo. Current effect isn't really workable.

What lesson? I dont think it works cause I see Quicksilver constantly as an early game player.

when the game was in beta players complained about not having a mulligan like other card games. Quicksilver basically removes the need for one, but over time many players will realize that you don't really need a turn 1 play, especially if it takes one of your precious 12 card slots. Quicksilver being kind of weak helps accelerate that process

I will say I've come to that conclusion now that I have an actual complete deck with Devil Dinosaur.

I found the only possible good use of Hawkeye, and he's STILL bad

Essentially that you're better adding good cards outside your gimmick than adding mediocre cards that match it I guess

Hmm...what if Angel became Archangel when destroyed, but only by your opponent? Make it a weird Killmonger-counter.

What if Angel could swoop in to negate a card being destroyed?

He could only work if you have space, and he'd stop the first card that was targeted from dying.

That could be neat.

He is the biggest guy, so he will always be the primary card that people cheat into play, whether that's Discard with Hela/Ghost Rider/Black Knight, Jubilee/Lockjaw or just hardcasting in the She-Hulk/Infinaut deck.

If Angel's effect triggers he should revive the card and combine with it like Phoenix Force.

That would be absurdly broken though

Considering he's useless if you draw him out of your deck I think it's fine. He needs to be OP to justify him being useless if he's drawn.

What you're suggesting could easily lead to massive, free swings. It wouldn't be a small change, that would make him incredibly high tier.

Hawkeye is so great in Bounce!

(Also sometimes I like a Hawkeye->Adam Warlock combo)

Yeah. Swingy cards in snap tend to trend towards the higher end because if you don't get the upside you can just not play it.

I feel like Angels biggest problem is just taking up a deck slot. He only comes out when destroyed and Destroy has way too many valuable options to even consider running Angel. Pretty much any other deck that gets a card destroyed in some way (like enemy Yondu being played) also has infinitely better options to put in their deck than Angel

It's fun seeing the Kim Jacinto Apoc sometimes too because that bundle was literally $100 when it was released. It was more common than you'd think if you weren't around when it released.

But seriously, black knight > sif > ghost rider and blade is disgusting and there are VERY few ways to counter it reliably, while every counter can itself be countered by some very cheap utility

It's a shame because the game itself.is positively brilliant and imo could be the best thing to happen to digital ccgs since Hearthstone but....SD is just awful and I'm convinced they're letting balancing slide to push sales.

I do think they lean towards overpowered to push sales but I think they're aggressive with nerfs to fix them so I'm not really concerned.

Amusingly Loki doesn't feel overpowered at all anymore with Mobius. I imagine Elsa will be nerfed to +2 at some point which I think will be fair. I really don't think Black Knight is a problem and the idea that he is thought to be is totally weird to me. Most of the past few new cards haven't needed nerfs so yeah seems like a weird time to get on this soapbox for me.

Goose seems like a pretty decent counter for discard. Shuts down Dracula, Ebony Blade, and Ghost Rider.

Then you just gotta win 1 other lane

So what is the strategy/deck for Ebony Maw? It feels like there should be great uses for him but I can't figure out what.

Zero and Sauron negate his effect so he's mostly played in those decks with other cards like Red Skull and Typhoid Mary.

Zero plus Maw gets you 10 points early in a lane without locking it. If you have Sauron he can make Maw playable after turn 3 too. You could Viper + Maw to lock a lane for your opponent. Otherwise dont think Ive seen him in many decks.

ebony can also work with cards that can move into his lane or cards that play into his lane even after he's down like Doctor Doom

not that people run this kind of deck, mind you, but it is possible

A really goofy but sometimes brilliant play is to send Ebony Maw over to the other side with Viper

Then you just need 5 more by power to win the lane assuming they cant move cards into there (they probably can)
