They're in a stalemate which isn't good, but that's also different than losing. I doubt we'll know who's going to win until one of the countries finally hits a wall and rapidly starts breaking down.

Wouldn't be in that situation if the West gave them the good earlier. They kept 'not wanting things to escalate'. As soon as they were able to dig in and mine the place it ground things to a halt. They're getting better stuff from the west now but quantities are limited and it's hard to route an enemy.

Lawyer Katerina Bobrovskaya, who represents the interests of Bogdan Ermokhin and his sister Valeria in Ukraine, reported this to Grata.
I no longer have doubts about Russias plans. When Bogdan turns 18 in three weeks, he will already be an adult, and, most likely, he will be sent to serve in the Russian army, says lawyer Bobrovskaya.

According to the lawyer, since 2022 Ermokhin has made several independent attempts to return to Ukraine, but all of them were unsuccessful.

Sending kidnapped children victims of war to the front line of your own army so they die as fodder in your effort to conquer their homeland is one of the most sickening things imaginable.

Every single person in the Russian government with any ounce of authority deserves Nuremberg consequences.

The Russians pulled up 40000 reserves for Avdiivka (which includes forces diverted from other fronts, thereby further weakening those fronts) and have already lost thousands in all their recent attacks combined for the gain of a few fields around Avdiivka and a railroad embankment. Their most notable gain so far, Terrikon, can't even be effectively used because it's under Ukrainian fire control and they get shredded by artillery and drones before they can make use of it or get anywhere near it.

Are there still reports of Russian soldiers entering Ukraine and immediately surrendering? I remember a brief wave of that happening and Ukraine even published a hotline for that purpose.

Well, there is an ongoing crisis in Sudan. A civil war. Egypt and Ukraine seem to support SAF (Sudanese Armed Forces) while United Arab Emirates, Wagner, and Libyan National Army seem to support RSF (Rapid Support Forces). The United Nations is becoming more concern about it.

Could be massing them. I've heard Ukraine has said they'll target Russia's energy production if they try to kill their power grid again this year.

I think the 53% to 22% saying you can't expect ordinary Russians to resist their tyrannical government is the much bigger factor to look at.
I said FROM THE START that yes, regular Russians should be punished w/ sanctions and their lives made miserable until they've had enough and overthrow Putler, and others on this site thought that was monstrous or unthinkable.

Putler's whole "deal" with his populace (particularly in Moscow/St. Pete) is that they don't care how many atrocities he commits, so long as his governance enriches them and doesn't affect them personally. His hold on power will only loosen once they suffer, too.
I hope they hurt both economically and on the forced drafting front, when Ukraine is done liquidating enough Russian soldiers that Putler has no choice but to conscript the city dwellers, too.
Right now, they profit off of the misery of rural ethnic minority Russians and all the countries around Russia that are subjected to their cruelty. They are complicit.

This is just the mentality citizens of a conquering nation generally have. The Roman citizens certainly didn't give a fuck about whose land was being stolen and who was being killed as long as their lives were comfy back home.

No doubt it also made it easier for American citizens to accept GWB's wars since we never had any sort of attack on our soil during those 20 years. They were just greedily thinking about how much their oil prices would lower.

Not saying you're wrong or anything, just saying it's not unique to Russians and also Russians aren't immune to the mentality. It's why we saw the vast majority of them didn't give a shit until Putin started doing conscription, because for the first time they were actually at risk of losing something important.
