It's so hot in Arizona that people are suffering burn wounds when they fall to the ground. We're in the real life version of the Floor is Lava over here.

a very dry heat

I liked Avondale when I was there over a decade ago. Was surprised at how green it was. The desert storms were weird, but everything else seemed fine.

I'll take Phoenix heat over Louisiana heat any day. It was hot AF out here in LA a few weeks ago and it was miserable.

Temp in my car...after 8 hours in the shade in an underground parking lot...

It doesn't cool down at night anymore thanks to ambient heat trapped in buildings and other concrete structures/roads.

I'm surprised more homes in Phoenix aren't built underground.
Kinda on topic, you know of the hippie Cody Lundane from discovery's Dual Survival show?

Me and my Dad would run into him while grocery shopping in Phoenix. He was living out of a Volkswagen van and would stop my Dad like "Hey maaann, check out this new gear/technique I found".

That was in the early 90s, now with his Discovery money he built a house north of Phoenix that has the floor several feet underground. Doesn't need to heat or cool it.

Yeah, I guess we're breaking records down here. It's pretty miserable, but if you're a native, you're used to it at this point. But we're all anticipating monsoon season that's about to hit soon, which always relieving (aside from the flash floods).

Just staying indoors with the AC on makes it bearable. And while it's cliche at this point, I'd much rather take the Phx dry heat than the bullshit humidity in other hot places. Plus we don't suffer from too many natural disasters aside from the aforementioned flash floods and dust storms. And sometimes wildfires, of course, but those aren't usually in populated areas.

you'd sleep with the AC on anyway right?

I live in MA and it's been 75-80 at night but with 60-75% humidity. I hardly ever turn my AC off

Its weird people are posting the weather like that. I live in NV where it's more or less the same. We deal with maybe 90 days of heat like this. Rest of the year is amazing. While youre freezing in the winter we're walking around in shorts. That's the payoff. Can use pools basically all year round etc

Is the cost of living low at least? Considering its hotter than hell.

They should build their homes underground with the way things are going
Cost of living is higher now, especially housing. Rich folk from California realized their house in California could buy them two in Phoenix, and a lot of real estate got snapped up as they moved.

Life's too short to spend it locked inside a (insert square footage) home, a car, and your office.

With a life like that, you're essentially a prisoner. The weather has forbidden you from exiting the walls of your confinement locations.

It's true though. You can't safely do anything outside when it's this hot.

Winter is totally different you freaking goobers. While obviously you can't go out if it's -20 with a windchill for very long, for the most part except in very severe winter weather you can stack layers and be ok. You can't do anything like that to mitigate the heat. There's no removing more layers of clothes.

pretty much everywhere is air conditioned, patios and building eves have misters, and it drops to 90 once the sun sets. you're not trapped in your home in the summer. also Prescott is a short drive away and like 20-30 degrees cooler. there are a bunch of city/community pools and a ton of houses have private pools.

it really isn't that bad.

This is an exaggeration, or all the landscaping and pest control crews that are outside daily wouldn't have jobs. Not to mention the USPS drivers with no AC.

It's hot and it sucks but you can totally safely be outside as long as you have water.
