Has he not contacted any kind of pest control? We had some scorpions when we first moved in back in October and after a few treatments haven't seen any inside even with it being summer and them being pretty active. Still occasionally see them on the outside walls of the yard but that's no biggie.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Some cultures eat scorpions, yeah. Not sure about just scooping up the ones here in Phoenix to eat but it's probably fine.

you don't have to sweep your house with UV, just check your shoes. respectfully, your brother is being paranoid. i've encountered way more lizards in the house than I ever have scorpions. think i've only even seen a bark scorpion get in like, maybe twice.

I lived there for about 5 years and it's not that bad. monsoon season (which is what they are in now) sucks though.

Scorpions also kind of depend on where in Phoenix you live.

When I lived in Tempe and Mesa, I never saw any.

It is currently hotter than has ever been observed or theorized. Argument to history only works when the action has existed within the bounds of what has happened before.

Yeah I can see dealing with Scorpions if you live in one of the cities on the outskirts like Casa Grande or Marana, but I cant say I ever saw one in the valley.

A Phoenix burn doctor is warning of the severe injuries people are experiencing after making contact with pavement as the city contends with a brutal heat wave.

We are seeing lots of patients who are falling down onto the concrete, pavement, asphalt, and suffering really, really deep burns as a result of that, Dr. Kevin Foster, the director of the Arizona Burn Center, told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in an interview that aired Thursday.

Oh they can definitely show up in the Valley, it's just less likely.

You'll get weird infestations where one house has them and no one else does.

I think it's kinda cool and shows what we can do in terms of building homes and cities in such a climate. And considering that places like Arizona and Nevada have really good residential water conservation techniques, it also shows that we're able to adapt and use technology in such a climate.

Desert landscaping is also pretty cool and beats a regular lawn. And desert architecture is pretty nice as well

It used to be when I was there, but I left just before the 2008 recession.

With everything said about the heat,I loved it there. Granted I hated the walk to get to my truck anywhere I went during peak summer.

I helped fix a barbed wire fence in Suprise when it was 115 out and it was fine, just had to wear a straw hat and a light long sleeve shirt.

As a Canadian, my mind was shattered at how cheap real estate is. (Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, and Paradise Valley are the only places that come even close to housing prices in BC right now)

But I was there with a 1st cousin from Texas, and she found everything expensive, so I guess it depends where your coming from.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/24/health/arizona-heat-burns-er/index.html

It's so hot in Arizona that people are suffering burn wounds when they fall to the ground. We're in the real life version of the Floor is Lava over here.

Every single one of the 45 beds in the burn center is full, he said, and one-third of patients are people who fell and burned themselves on the ground. There are also burn patients in the ICU, and about half of those patients are people burned after falls.

Seems awful green to me, and not palm tree green.

Most places have grass lawns. There's very little desert landscaping.

Exactly. That's my argument when i "tolerate" the heat in Arizona. I'll take being indoors with ac and blazing temperatures outside, than snow filled winters where you have to prepare so much more.
Cold hurts me, the heat kinda makes me feel alive.
