Synduality Noir is off to a good start. I always love me some original mecha anime, and this one seems promising based on the first episode.

I know that. But considering that this anime is set 20 years after the events of the game based on pre-release info, it's most likely not adapting any of the story from that game and will work as its own standalone story. And since it's not adapting any sort of source material, that counts as an original anime in my opinion. The new BanG Dream anime is in a similar position. It's an extension of an existing mixed media franchise, but it's a standalone story focusing on new characters and not adapting any story from the mobile game, so I consider it an original anime too.

The only true 100% original anime (not connected to anything else) this season is Ayaka, and unfortunately, it hasn't been very good so far.

Today is the 5-year anniversary of the first episode of my favorite anime of all time, Revue Starlight. I recently bought the premium blu-ray box set during Sentai's summer sale (the first time I've ever gone out of my way to buy a physical release for an anime, by the way) and I'm going to re-watch the series for the 9th time, which is by far the most times I've ever re-watched an anime. Anyone here who hasn't watched Revue Starlight yet, please load up HiDive and go watch it. It's only 12 episodes and a movie, and it's a masterpiece.

The sequel movie was the best part of the whole franchise. As great as the TV anime's ending was, the movie somehow set up an even better and more satisfying ending while also giving us some of the most incredible action scenes that I've ever seen in all of anime. I would recommend re-watching the TV anime (or at least the Rondo Rondo Rondo compilation movie if you've already seen the series, though that's not on HiDive and you'd have to use "other means" to find it) before checking out the sequel movie. The movie needs the setup of the original story to be fully enjoyed.

The TV anime was already a 10/10 for me, but the sequel movie is what elevated it to being my #1 favorite anime of all time above all the other 10's I have.

Rondo has a few minor scenes thrown in here and there (mostly short conversations between Nana and the giraffe to enhance Nana's side of the story a bit) and one notable scene tacked on in the last few minutes after the normal anime ending that acted as a cliffhanger to build up hype for the sequel. Plus it shifted things around a bit compared to the TV series, including switching the order of two revues and moving Hikari's backstory reveal to earlier in the story. None of this stuff is totally necessary to enjoy the sequel movie though. If you've already seen the TV anime and you just want a quick refresher before the sequel movie without having to re-watch the entire TV anime, that's what you would use Rondo for.

Guess I'll watch Rondo first then, when I get around to it

The end of Oshi no Ko chapter 50 is probably the greatest moment in the series so far and I can't wait for it to be animated

I took a second look through the seasonal list to see if there was anything interesting that I may have missed the first time, and I found a show called My Happy Marriage. It's a romance anime that Netflix got this season, and it's getting the same-day simuldub treatment too. I enjoyed the first three episodes, plus now I can pair this show with Sacrificial Princess on Wednesdays for a double dose of cute romance.

According to r/Animedubs, the so-called "Season 2, Episode 0" (which I assume is some special episode not directly tied to the season) got uploaded on Crunchyroll this past Sunday. Looks like it's a similar situation to when the Witch From Mercury dub premiered, where they quietly uploaded the prologue episode and didn't actually make the dub announcement until right before the actual first episode aired.

Also, is dubbing and VA affected by the SAG strike? Or are they part of a different union/not unionized?

Doesn't look like anime dubbing will be immediately affected at all by this strike. At most, it could have a long-term effect of leading some previously non-union VA's to unionize in the future out of solidarity, but that's about it.

God, I fucking hate Hulu. For the first episode of Synduality Noir, they uploaded the episode pretty early in the morning, so it was ready for me to watch when I woke up. Then the second episode last week didn't go up until like 3PM EST despite subs for it being available through "less than legal means" (because they were ripped from Disney+ which carries the show in other countries but not in the US) a few hours earlier. Now this week, we're even later into the day than last time and this week's episode is still not up yet. it doesn't even show an estimate of when the episode will go up either.

I'm getting so annoyed by their slow and inconsistent uploads that I might just drop this show for now and wait until it's finished to watch it.

And now I have FINALLY finished all my spring shows, having just finished Demon Slayer. There's a few summer shows I haven't gotten around to starting yet so guess thats next. Then I can catch up on pokemon.

Anyone else watching Saint Cecilia And Pastor Lawrence this season? This is another one that I missed my first time looking through the seasonal list, but I saw it was getting a dub (premiering today) and I decided to check it out. The first episode was pretty cute and comfy, and with this show thrown in with My Happy Marriage and Sacrificial Princess, I now have a triple dose of cute romance anime to watch on Wednesdays.

Holy shit, Bushiroad really cranked up the suffering for this new BanG Dream series. That was somehow the most inspirational and also most heart-wrenching episode of anime that I've seen all year. I can't praise this show enough.

The First Slam Dunk was so good!!!! Go see it this weekend if you get a chance.

Slam Dunk is the OG sports anime. Honestly I was obsessed with it back in the days. 90% of sports animes in the modern times just kinda use the template Slam Dunk left behind. You basically see a ton of the exact same tropes, but it's sometimes done out of respect
