Today was the first day I didn't play this game in four weeks! I was thinking more about how unbelievable it is that this game runs as well as it does. MonolithSoft knows how to make Switch games that's for sure.

After almost 2 weeks off, I got back to Zelda earlier this week. Apparently I'm the only one left...

I've got something like 41 shrines and 32 lighroots. Maybe about 45 hours. Still just randomly exploring the world, doing shrines and seeing what's out there. I did randomly run across a piece of the Fierce Deity set, so that was cool.

Got quite a few side quests and adventures in my log at this point. Honestly, part of me is wholly uninterested in the dialogue and I'm just jamming the button to get through it.

I should probably start working on the actual main quests in the game but I feel like I'm destined to do all the Skyview Towers first.

Around 50ish Shrines and Lightroots now. Around 70 Korok seeds.

Did one of the labyrinths the other day. The reward didn't seem that great? I know where the other 2 are but I'm still just doing the whole random exploration thing.

Man this game keeps going and going. Did all of the Yiga stuff today: the depths quests, the blademaster qualification and the Yiga base. Got 28 shrines left to do, then a few side adventures to polish off and then it's off to fight Ganon, I guess.

Also, finally got enough Sage's Wills to upgrade one of them, kinda disappointed it doesn't reduce ability cooldown.

I unlocked the map for Hyrule forest because I wanted the master sword. This is before i accidentally got it.

Found my way over to Eventide Island. Did the side quest over there. Jumped in the chasm. Stumbled into an arena fight with a few waves of Bokoblins that I wasn't really prepared for. Got Midna's Helmet, so that's cool I guess.

Still continuing with random exploring. Have all the Skyview Towers but 3 which are on top of mountains that I'm not fully equipped to take on at the moment. I mean, I guess I could do some cooking but whatever.

Ran across some shit in the Depths that I don't know what to think about but I couldn't really do anything with at the moment. I'm sure it'll be a story thread at some point. ...totally gonna get around to main quests soon....yep...

And done. All shrines, all lightroots. Fun game. Think I agree with the sentiment expressed by others that it's better than BotW overall, but has less impact because of how similar it is.

Final fight was neat though. The sages showing up, Ganondorf rehydrating and monologuing, the dragon transformation, all lots of fun, though I overprepared and kicked his ass all three stages. The explosion when you finally beat him went a lot harder than I thought it was going to. Also, I thought I was probably exagerrating the One Piece influence in this game and then the final battle happened.

Also, I went out of my way to get the Hylian Shield and level the Wild Tunic, so I would look 'correct' during the final scenes and Ganondorf almost immediately broke my shield and Link is shirtless during most of the final cutscenes ;_;

Mario Galaxy 2 used to be the prime example of this but I think TotK may have taken that throne now. The gaming world would have been utterly flipped upside down by this game if BotW didnt exist.

Finally unlocked all the towers. 77 Shrines, 57 Lightroots, 97 Korok Seeds. Still missing 3-4 memories, even though I've now got the Master Sword back. That was certainly interesting. Not unexpected since the game heavily hints at it but still.

Still have barely touched any of the main quests; just exploring and doing side stuff.

Somewhere around 90 Shrines and 110 Lightroots. I think I've got all the rest of the Lightroots marked, though I'm unsure how to actually get to a few of them.

Found the Fire Temple, though I don't think I can actually do it until I advance the Goron story? There seemed like a big rock in the way?

Helped the Deku Tree, but I already had the Master Sword so that was done quick. Actually came up from the depths to get there, rather than coming in through the Lost Woods.

I'm doing everything I can after doing all the dungeons (my overviews of them are below) but before going to the castle. Been there a bunch already but clearly there's a new trigger after all the dungeons.

The Rito Wind Temple was awful, save a few neat puzzles. Basically a Divine Beast, and the buildup was kinda boring with the slow boat mechanics. Definitely one of the worst Zelda dungeons and the boss was very underwhelming.

Gerudo Desert dungeon is what I did next (forgot its name) and it was a damn good one. The buildup was super unique and with some fun exploration and puzzles, the gimmick of the dungeon itself was well-executed, and the boss was fine. 8/10 dungeon, very solid.

Zora buildup was kinda fun but the dungeon itself felt off. There was basically no atmosphere to it and it was just four shrine puzzles, basically? I will give it a pass for the puzzles being good, the low gravity being super fun and the boss being hilarious. Shoutouts to me not knowing how to access the right side puzzles and so putting a spring down and going so high Sidon told me I left the dungeon.

Goron Fire Temple was great, decent buildup even though I hate Yunobu. Him screaming "why'd ya do it" every time I bombarded him into a wall was worthwhile though. Dungeon itself was super dumb and you could just sequence break everything by climbing straight up the walls and ascending in weird places and I loved it. Sums up the spirit of the game really, and the few cart puzzles I did were neat.

Also, the side quests are so much better overall. Way less mundane fetch quests (aside from the fireflies dear god catch every firefly you see if you haven't done that quest already because it's the worst), way more cute worldbuilding, puzzles, and character interactions.

Also also, I found autobuild 60 hours in and felt very, very, very stupid. Still haven't even begun to explore the depths, as may be quite obvious from that. I have about 90 shrines, though!

I ran across that completely by chance, though I figured it HAD to be in the game. To be honest, I haven't found it that useful so far but maybe that's just because I'm not super big on the building aspect of the game.

What I do love is exploring and filling out a map and that part of the game you haven't touched much has really scratched my itch.

I feel like we're past spoiler marking that ability.

Even still, I've found it a boon when exploring. Especially when there's cliffs to cross, a little hover craft does wonders.

Getting around on a bike or car is pretty useful too, especially when you can't bring your horse everywhere.

And sometimes you need a super hot air balloon thing to go real high

Yeah it was the wind. I remember getting to the Lost Woods being like "I know what to do but hopefully this game changes it up" and it didn't disappoint. I had just done my first maze so I knew this game occasionally interconnects its layers, and going in from the depths was my first instinct! Good stuff

Yeah but the game is so open ended that putting him on a specific path and not in like a town or something is still so damn silly to me

I looked up his location 30 hours in or so. I'm getting 10 different hints at once from NPCs sometimes, I'm not gonna follow every single one in that moment when they all go lead separate directions. Now if within the hint you mentioned a "giant Korok" or something alluding to Hestu, then I would have listened

I don't know when he ends up where, but because I didn't follow the main quest for dozens of hours to begin with, I eventually gave in and started going that general direction to find Hestu.

He really was not obviously on the way though, so I then gave up at a certain point and looked him up after I'd already gathered like 90+ seeds. He was on an arbitrary path off of the road somewhat near the Lindor's Brow (I think that's what it's called) tower for me. If it weren't for me giving in and looking it up, I would have just followed the road on a horse and presumably never have found him until whenever it is he moves to Lookout Landing.

Like even where I am now, I presumably would not have him since I still haven't touched any of the temples (or at least not through the story. so even though I know where 3 of them are, I couldn't actually do them) if not for having looked up his location.

Yeah, I guess I just decided to stick with Rito first, and since the Lindor tower is the first on the way in that direction, I just headed straight down the road then up to the tower, and he's on that path.

Any other direction approaching the tower or just not wanting to go that way, yeah, I can see it being difficult to run into him.

If he eventually went to Lookout Landing on his own after a certain amount of hours of not finding him, fantastic. But he doesn't. He only appears there after you find him on a path.

I thought it was only the path to the Rito village but I think I've heard others say they found him on different trails. It's also nice if the game moves him closer to you, but I'm not sure that's been proven.

Between GDQ, author visits, two other new games and MMO and D&D obligations I haven't had much time for it but I found myself playing about ten hours worth over the past few days. I finished the fire temple but have not explored much of the depths in the region because good lord I dont enjoy the visual effect when you're in the region down there.

Current goal is finally upgrading some armor. Its not really spoilertastic since it sells in a shop but the Sheikah armor was my go to in BotW for wilderness gathering so I am trying to focus on great fairy reenacting. Only got Woodland's so far, and now this second was is like "go find this other stable."

Then I found myself in Hateno Village and WHY IS MY HOUSE NOT MY OWN

Greatly liking / sorta loving this so far. Building stuff is fantastic even if it's just a tower to get a korok up the wall of the great plateau to their friend, and the sign puzzles are my favorite things in this game right now.
