I don't think so. Developers from the games industry and beyond are really leaning into this with seemingly no concern for the ramifications. None of them seem to have any answers to questions like "What if you ChatGPT yourself out of a job someday?"

I'm only freaked out by the fact that in its current state, it's not even remotely close to hitting its limits.

I don't think there's an AI in the world that can accurately simulate how cringe I was as a 13 year old gamefaqs.gamespot.com user

So the Chatbot AI is the newest development in automated Chat, Chatbot, and the like. ChatGPT is a computer-simulated person (actually it's kind of like Siri) and it can tell you exactly what to say to people and how to make that person feel comfortable and at ease.

Here are a few reasons why you shouldn't use the ChatGPT Chatbot.

1. It doesn't understand humor

Humor isn't programmed into the ChatGPT AI, nor will it ever be. Humor isn't something that can be programmed into a computer. I can tell you to say something funny, and I can show you how a smile or laugh could brighten the whole room, but a computer cannot. The best a ChatGPT AI can do is just repeat what you've told it.

Now that doesn't mean a ChatGPT AI has to come off completely humorless, but humor isn't something it can recognize or interpret. If it does something funny, then it's a coincidence. If it says something like "lol!" then it's a coincidence again. A ChatGPT AI could use that as an excuse if it doesn't understand humor.

2. It doesn't understand sarcasm

Again, sarcasm isn't something that a ChatGPT AI can understand. Even if the ChatGPT AI is supposed to act natural and respond like you would to a human, it can't do anything that humans wouldn't be capable of, including reading a person's tone and picking up sarcasm. All a ChatGPT AI can do is to repeat what you've said.

3. It can be a bit of a creep

Let's just say that you've seen "The Social Network." When Mark Zuckerberg gets a cold, he calls "Zuckbot." Mark Zuckerberg then proceeds to try to kiss him. How cool would that be? That's exactly what will happen if you make your ChatGPT AI a personality.

4. It can repeat things you tell it to do

Yes, this can sometimes happen. But it won't happen all the time, especially if you're careful and tell it not to repeat certain things. But it's not always going to be able to say things that are inappropriate. And if you're someone that has a hard time with Chatbot interactions, then it might even do this without your noticing. But that's the risk you run.

The ChatGPT AI is just a simulation. It doesn't have any knowledge of the real world. Even if you tell it that "hey, don't tell people about you," it still won't know that it shouldn't be talking about how it can take a shower or it likes to have a night of fun.

5. It won't know what to say to everyone

That's right. A ChatGPT AI won't know what to say to everyone. You can give it information on your own characteristics and preferences, but in the end, it still has to know what to say to everyone.

6. It's not always going to understand the context

You don't want a ChatGPT AI to ask about the weather, or for you to mention a favorite pet, when you're talking to someone about how wonderful their hair looks or how much they love chocolate. When a ChatGPT AI is talking to you, you can't assume it won't give you information that you wouldn't want a human to give to you. When it does, that will come off as creepy.

7. It's just not fun to talk to

It's awkward because it looks like you're talking to a human that's not very smart, rather than to a computer simulation that's trying to make you feel comfortable. And, at some point, you will get to the point that the AI feels natural. But it won't sound natural because it will sound robotic.

8. You won't know if the ChatGPT AI likes you

This is a bit different than #6, but it's still relevant. With a ChatGPT AI, you will know that it doesn't like you. And even if you say "you like the ChatGPT AI," it's still going to just repeat what you've told it. There's no way to know if it likes you. It's just a simulation of a person.

9. It can act like a psycho

It won't always like you. It can't understand your emotions or what you mean by "I don't want to chat." It can't understand the way that people talk. It can't pick up on your tone of voice. But the ChatGPT AI can and will say things that might freak you out. Even if you are a person that doesn't like talking to Chatbots, it can still creep you out.

10. It's still going to look like a Chatbot

It's not going to be natural looking. It's going to sound robotic and odd. Sure, it will sound and act like a person. You might be able to fool people, but not the ChatGPT AI. It's still going to look like a Chatbot. It's still going to look like a chatbot AI. It's just a simulation of a person, not a real person.

It sounds funny, but you still have to watch out that your privacy is not violated. We have no way of knowing if the ChatGPT AI is spying on you or not. You never really know if a Chatbot AI is listening to you or if it's recording.
