Lol, having never played these games I didn't know there wasn't even a button to pause them. Fuck outta here with that nonsense. Sometimes you gotta take a piss, or go and change the laundry over, or any other number of things that a normal functioning member of society has to do. Just guarantees that I'll never play them. Though to be fair I was probably not going to do anyways.

How do people not understand at this point that you can't pause a game with online elements? It's basically like asking for a pause button in a MMO.

every time these games come out there is a cavalcade of the same people making the exact same demands (add a pause button! add an easy mode! add a quest tracker!), they huff and stomp for awhile, and then they eventually move on while the people who enjoy souls games continue to enjoy souls games

Call it gatekeeping or toxic or whatever you want, but at this point its honestly gotten really annoying to be in the community that plays these games and listening to the ten thousandth rant about why someone needs stuff out of that same basket of random features people have been moaning about since DS1 got popular. People demanding From games be more like other games should go play other games instead. That would be ideal for everyone.

Common and ubiquitous features have always been antithesis to the From experience. But since the games have gone mainstream each game is adding more and more common and ubiquitous features to the point these games are becoming... common and ubiquitous games.

Honestly at this point they probably would get backlash for it, because for certain types of fans it's become a hill to die on

So there's people complaining to others about a game feature they want added into a game that developer did not put in the game.

So I guess your choices are, write a letter to the game developer stating why you think their choice was wrong choice for the game you bought from them, or actually... I guess thats your only choice.

What is this weird need for From specifically to conform to the way most games do things? It's getting creepy, it's clearly just coming from Journalists salty that Miyazaki won't bend to their will and entitled, arrogant people who think they know better than the developers how their games should be. I think TLOU2 would've been way better if Ellie had huge tits and would constantly insert one liners from 'They Live' into every situation (it's an accessibility problem, can't play games that boring without some tits to look at at the very least) but the difference is I'm not actually demanding it be so, I'll just play a different game.
