Yea I spent like 12 bucks at taco bell the other day. It used to be like 7 bucks a year ago.

My mom keeps sending me her stupid subway emails

she thinks its cheap because it says B1G1 but she always wants some fancy sub and cookies and it ends up being like $25

and its freaking subway

Yeah, it's out of control and sadly I don't see it getting any better. Since we haven't pulled a French Revolution yet, the corporations are just going to continue to bleed us dry, bit by bit.

I know. It's unfair and unreasonable. They just don't want people to live.

Considering we keep voting in politicians that are more than happy to maintain the status quo, I wouldn't bet on anything getting better. It really would take a revolution to fix it at this point. Too bad everyone has been thoroughly pacified. Half the people these days can't make a phone call to a stranger without having a panic attack. They sure as hell won't be dragging the billionaires from their homes for a trip to the guillotine.

businesses have always increased prices when possible to maximize their returns. this is nothing new. demand outstrips supply, and prices go up.

I sympathize with people who are hurting when paying for groceries, but not if that consumer shows zero price elasticity for specific goods that aren't necessary. like someone will say "beef is so expensive right now" and that should mean you instead buy something else. you continuing to spend your money on something would suggest that the price is obviously not too high. I see something that's priced too high and I change my plans on what I'm eating that week, and that should be the norm. This is neglecting the point that generally meat should be quite expensive due to how inefficient it is to produce.

I'm not sure where the 'price gouging' is in this example. You had access to a product through multiple retailers who set their prices. You responded by going with the cheaper option.

Your complaint is that the first retailer set their prices higher? Even though they didn't get your money?

If I could press like on this post I would. Well, I could do a thumbs up anyway.

I think it's cute that people act like and think it's only corporations that are gouging you for common goods and services when theres just as many if not more local businesses doing it too, most people that have a business are incredibly greedy or soon get to be that way.

The local businesses need to do it to survive, that's the difference.

No. Fast food is overpriced because it is overpriced. Raising the wages has nothing to do with it and you believing that horseshit lie that corporations trod out everyday is part of the problem.

food from grocery stores is just as expensive, this isnt a wage issue workers are laughably underpaid and get fewer benefits than any other developed nation

Sorry you cant argue with people about prices here most people on potd make 6 figures and drive Lamborghinis(probably not that may be too cheap for them). But whatever it is they have they cant drive them to much except for to work because they work 24/7.
