And apparently my latest save file on Abyss is at 6:19. I.. Thought I at least got past 10 hours on that game.

You should start over and keep going until after "THAT" happens. You will know what I mean when it does.

I still remember the game bludgeoning me on the head several times about an upcoming "plot twist" concerning Luke. It can't come soon enough, as I'm not sure I've ever played a game with a more unlikeable protagonist as Luke has been so far. Jade is the only one I can remember not coming off as annoying-at-best.

If I recall right I was up to some factory and it was supposedly some annoying nightmare of a dungeon and I was like "welp don't care enough I'm out."

Well the last update was November, but that was to say it should be this year.

I say slow going, but that's counting the decade or so where there was no active development (I don't know if the new folks are working off of that work at all)

Approximately how far into the game is "the thing".

I'm not a fan of a fair amount of what's going on, but protags this unlikeable are game killers for me.

I also remember being permanently poor and unable to actually afford much of anything without lots of grinding which was annoying.

I think the idea of "just wait for the twist" is a bit over exaggerated.

The twist works because of the character building and the impression the game builds for several characters and many members of your party.

Yes there's a "moment", but it has to be taken as a whole.

But to answer your question I have absolutely no concept of time when playing an RPG, lol.

honestly it's not that far into the game

but the sad part is that act 2 is a major slog so I ultimately have better memories when luke sucks

This is intentional - some of the things early on are meant to be unaffordable. You were also over halfway to the point we're discussing - and trust me, it's worth it if you can put up with him - but you were just at the start of where he started to reach his worst point.

And now I feel like playing through Abyss again. Can never do that enough times...

I don't think it's going to be super soon, but playthrough 5 is on the horizon.

i just clicked this video on a whim and according to it, the skippable cutscenes refers to ONLY the animated sequences and NOT any sections with dialogue boxes that you have to press a button to advance (the vast majority of how the story scenes take place)

It's like every time I hear something new about this "remaster" my respect for it drops even more.

This is about as shameless a cash grab as it gets. I own the game on the GameCube I will be fine.

I wonder if Baiten Kaitos will be botched to this level because that's a game in serious need of fixes (and some of it is super simple like not needing to leave the game powered on for TWO WEEKS to get the final card).

If that redo looks anything like this it's a no buy at almost any price.

Fingers crossed for Baten Kaitos HD, the trailer looked fairly clean. They're removing the dub track though.

Which, I mean, the BK1 dub was terrible down to the actual audio quality of the English VA work sounding like shit, but it was pretty funny at least.

I rememeber the dub for Origins being fine though, which is unfortunate.

Ive been playing a little bit of the remastered Xenoblade, think Baten Kaitos will be in good hands

I never had Xenoblade on the Wii, just the Switch. Can't make a direct comparison there. I have 2, but I haven't played it yet.

I just got out of Iselia. I'm playing on Playstation. Neither the battle transition or the pause menu is true. At least so far. There is a tiny bit of loading only when going out to the world map, not every transition. So maybe it's just the Switch version that is really cursed.

Of course 30 fps is still a thing.

I think the Noisy Pixel review posted earlier had the reviewer playing both versions, and mentioned that the PS4 version had the glass-breaking battle transition and the backgrounds visible in the pause menu, unlike the Switch version.

I have to admit, I was irrationally annoyed by the fact that titles in Vesperia had no effects tied to them.

I liked the stat changes they gave in Symphonia!

Also the Wonderchef was somehow less charming.

I thought there were a few costumes that were linked to titles? The vigilante one comes to mind.
