Metroid Prime Remastered was a surprise, even more so that it's out today.

I didn't think they'd show Pikmin 4, but given that it now has a summer release, it must have been further along in development than I expected. Probably a lot of reused assets from Pikmin 3 (not that there's a problem with that).

I'm also shocked that they're bringing GB and GBA games to NSO. I would have thought that ship sailed years ago. Better late than never I guess. The GBA games being locked behind the expansion doesn't make it worth it though.

The voice acting in the Zelda trailer was somehow even worse than the voice acting in BotW, but I'm sure the game itself will be awesome.

I was actually pretty sure Pokmon would show up The mobile game and timing made it make sense. My roommate and I were actually talking like last week how we thought theyd talk about it at the next direct

And I figured GB & GBA would eventually come to switch That seemed kind of obvious I wouldnt see any reason for it not to, though

Xenoblade wave 4 hype. Those like 5 seconds kind of overshadowed the wave 3 reveal, which is plenty cool in its own right, but the wave 4 tease gives such an absurd amount of speculation fodder and fanservice and December (or whenever it launches) really can't come fast enough.

That Fantasy Life sequel came out of nowhere. That's a game I hardly ever see mentioned, but I loved it. Pretty hyped for that one. Also a port of *both* Baten Kaitos games, which is great because I never got to play Origins. Also Katamari 2. Ghost Trick is another surprise that's really cool to see, even though I won't be grabbing it because I'm lucky enough to already have a DS copy.

All in all, not a bad Direct.

The best part is that it reveals nothing about whether it's a prequel or epilogue. The apparent Vandham Founder suggests the former, but all three characters and the pictured fused world could just as easily appear postgame.

it's baby money compared to most other subscription crap. I get the frustration but it was very cheap initially and still damn cheap for a whole year. it is lame how much Nintendo drip-feeds their old content to us though. or they charge $50 for Metroid Prime again...lol. I'll get it but I will damn well wait for a sale of some sort.

but ye I love that I can play Gameboy and GBA on Switch now.

As prices go, it's dirt cheap, but it also doesn't exactly give a lot for that price. I'm generally okay paying for base NSO when I want online play, but I let it lapse after I finish with those games and I don't really miss anything I lose when I do so. The higher tier is even harder to defend, given that it only gives access to a handful of extra retro games and DLC for games that I don't even have/still play.

It really is. I'd gladly pay $50/year for the ability to stream any of Nintendo's retro games at will, but the way they make 99% of their retro library unavailable is just stupid.

It's also kind of lame that we aren't getting more GC or Wii games lumped in with "retro," despite the fact that the Wii is now as old as the SNES was when the Wii launched (and the Wii went up to N64 games). GC games are getting remakes and ports and whatnot, but nothing in the vein of the Virtual Console (presumably because those remakes and ports are making more money than VC releases would).

Oh. I was hoping they were making a new one. I guess I'll play them when they release. I only ever beat the first one and got like halfway through the second one. Will they ever add DS games?
