I can perfectly understand removing the romantic implications for Anna (11), Jean (10), Hortensia (14), and *spoilers* ~~Veyle (Alear's biological sister)~~, but not allowing you to romance characters who are literally the exact same age as you seems like a ridiculous overreach. Instead of completely overhauling the dialogue to remove the romance and killing that aspect for the people who like those characters, why not just age them up and make them 18 in the western release? I'd say, you could argue a direct translation would ruin the author's intent in terms of the tone of the scene. Imagine a character that's entire character was rhyming. Wouldn't a direct translation of their dialogue be damaging the author's intent, therefore that would be defacing the art?
