a means of transportation
a sizeable amount of money in the bank
a friend group
a house, apartment or roommate
an investment

I have none of these things and don't know how to get them and am despite telling people I'm okay after being fired and actually in a bit of a mental panic right now and some sadness because despite swearing I wouldn't get attached to the routine, I did and now that it's gone I feel lost.

I would hope by 35 some degree of self sufficiency is attained, even if it's a cohabitative situation where you have a job and contribute to rent or whatnot.

Family, career, hobbies.. that's all subjective.

Hopefully happy with what they've accomplished so far in life. It's not a competition. I'm 34, been married ten years and have two kids. Homeowner. Have a work from home job I love but don't make a lot ($15 an hour). Live frugal so my kids can have it better than I did. I'm happy with the progress I've made in life, but it's nothing overly impressive in my mind. Worked hard, got some lucky breaks, and have learned to go without to have longer term success.

Have a general direction in life, or at least made enough mistakes to know what to avoid. Don't need to be married, employed, graduated, own a house, whatever. Just understand what makes you happy and what your needs are. World is fucking rough and life throws so many curveballs, nobody should be expected to pass some arbitrary goals.

Content and have made considerable strides to where they want to be, and if they haven't reached it then they have a drive and consistent effort to show for it.

Don't be one of these losers talking about starting a business, making money, learning a new skill, getting writings published, hating where they are in life, etc.; and instead of doing anything about it, they sit around smoking weed all day.

I don't care if you're making minimum wage and have like 4 kids from 3 different women/men and live in a generally-considered rundown living space--if you can say you are happy, without a shred of doubt, and you are at where you are in life with no further pursuits to give you contentment, then congratulations: you're peak success as far as I'm concerned. No sarcasm.

If you constantly measure your self worth against where you think you should be relative to expectations, you will almost always find yourself wanting. Where should you be? Exactly where you are right then. Do I wish I had more? Absolutely. Am I willing to work to get there? Sure. Is it worth it? Maybe, maybe not.
